Madden NFL Grass Textures
 

I don't know if it's just me or what, but when i looked at the grass on Madden NFL 09 it just didnt look all that realistic to me along the lines of how it looks on TV. Just my opinion.

Looks like the chiefs grass in person to me, every stadium is different, and not all the fields look brand new bright green.

Thats field turf in the video by the way.

I don't know a lot about graphics and how much CPU/memory it costs to put in 3d grass, but I have to imagine it's significant considering it's all over the field... or it'd be in all sports games by now.

Honestly, I just can't see it being worth it.

09 is way better than 08 and 09 looks great. however it is not varried enough from turf and real grass. Also, I don't think the baseball field look for Mian and Oakland are in 09. I haven't seen it anyway. Lastly, the look of night game grass is terrible, it glows.

Check out all of the grass in Tiger Woods..

Grass can be done well but you also have to remember that there are 22 players moving around, sidelines, crowd (albeit low texture), sky.. etc.

That is alot of resources in use .

I thought the grass itself was fine, my biggest issue was the lighting. Sometimes the game would like much better in the actual replays than while in-game.

I'm fine with the way the grass is now. Honestly, I don't think the grass is that important. Just as long as it doesn't look like what APF looks like.

I dont know how many of you have played FIFA 09. But the grass in that game is phenomenal. I'd like it to look like that.

I would rather they focus on other things to improve the game then the texture of the grass, the problem with Madden is never really the Graphics it is usually the unrealistic game play I have a problem with

If Fifa can have 3D grass (and not have it overexaggerated), then Madden should have it. It's not a big deal this year, but would like to see it back.

sadly about 3 months ago i posted a thread about bringing back/making new 3d grass for madden 10 then i seen the fifa grass and asked if they (EA MADDEN) could take the grass from fifa and import in to madden and tweak it to make it football grass. phil replied he would look into it. but from the screens we have seen for madden 10 it is obvious that there is no 3d grass for this year.
and i blame 60fps however i think fifa runs at 60fps and they have no problem with 3d grass slowing the game down.
soo once again another feature for madden 11 wishlist.

Now that I think about it I'd rather have the grass get chopped up and fly around(NFL2K5/APF) rather than it be 3d.
