Thoughts on CAP and the new potential rating?
I am always interested in create-a-player, and i usually make myself and sign on the Raiders (I have to do it in franchise since superstar sucks).
But I wonder how it will be affected with the new potential rating- how will that be determined? If we choose the potential number (which seems like cheating) or if it is determined by a random factor/ associated somehow with overall or another attribute? What are your thoughts? |
Re: Thoughts on CAP and the new potential rating?
They need to get back to limiting how many points you can use on CAP's. My friends and I stick to a strict "no over 83" but they should have it where you only have say 1200 points to create your player.
Not to beat a dead horse but the progression was so bad in 09. I created a LB (83 OVR) and he finished his career with 2 time DMVP, multiple pro bowls, tons of ints/sacks, and never went higher than his 83. =( |
Re: Thoughts on CAP and the new potential rating?
I'm actually interested in this question cause I usually do the same thing in making myself and putting him on the ATL.
Maybe it will be done by random factors but if it is I hope Age plays a role in determining the number that we get. |

Yeah I created a thread about this here http://www.operationsports.com/forum...l-ratings.html

i dont think they should limit points on created players, you should be able to choose his potential and all other ratings.
I feel like its your game and if you wanna cheat and create a 99ovr guy then so be it. me and my boys always put a limit on the ovr when we create players, or it will be too easy. |

I agree about not capping Create a player. My lil nephew love to create himself and turn it all the way up(hes 13) ,but if thats what floats his boat he should be able to do it. |
Re: Thoughts on CAP and the new potential rating?
Yea thinking about it I can see where both can conflict with each other.
About having a max amount of points usable. I agree but only if this was done with something like superstar where you should have to build your player up from good to great. In general we should be allowed to max out players if need be. |

Re: Thoughts on CAP and the new potential rating?
I know 3 things:
1) Madden 2000 for N64 had a Potential Rating. 2) When you created a player, you chose this (and all other) ratings. 3) The Potential Rating for all other players (including yours after he was created) was hidden. The devs should probably use this system to flesh out CAP. |
Re: Thoughts on CAP and the new potential rating?
I think we need total control on CAP. What if you want to bring someone out of retirement like Favre or you want Mike Vick once he returns to the league. You should be allowed to give them whatever ratings you want. My philosophy is this, you can always self impose whatever limits you want. Like others say they make a point to create a player and not go over a certain overall rating, I have done this myself. Other times you may want to create somebody who is a 93. Where is the harm. The more freedom we have the better. IMO :woot:
