What's up with the "man boobs" in FN4?

I'm not overly impressed with the fighter models in FN4. I think they've gone backwards in the upcoming title. It looks like a lot of the fighters have these "man boobs" that look, well, "off" in some regard. Hatton, Pavlik, Mora, just look funny. Is it just me?

Exactly. I stated in one of my earlier posts that, I actually think the player models are sharper graphics wise and better than FN3, BUT the actual ANATOMY of the bodies is better in RND3. All the boxers in RND4 have a strange look to the midsection.

That area is very wide and the chest looks like its smeared to the side. The boxers that should be lean are not. Have you seen the videos with emanuel augustus? That dude is lean and somewhat ripped, in RND 4, the boy looks like he's in his late 40s and hasn't worked out in awhile, lol.

I actually still think the game is going to be sweet, but I am going to be very disappointed if they dont fix that ****.

I'm not a player model renderer or nothing of the sort, but I think I know why they look like that. I'm thinking its the expanded hit zone for the midsection area. You know, there is hit detection pretty much all over the whole body. Now to encompass all of the hitzones within the midsection area, they needed more mass I guess.

I dont know, its strange because if you look at tysons player model, he seems to be the only model with a SLIGHT V shape to the mid section area and not the box shape.

most games mess up physiques and to me one of the biggest reasons is they screw up the arm pit and make it enormous. Once that happens, it alters the chest and everything else. That pic w/ taylor, his chest in the game have striations as do his abs, but he looks so think in the mid-rift, that striations look odd.

maybe they should look into scanning like UFC did (I'm not trying to make it seem like a competition). Just being honest, the vids aren't helping the game increase hype. I hope it's awesome and that I enjoy the demo. It would be interesting to get an inside look and how and why some of those body types were chosen and included.

If anyone is familiar with "hajime no ippo victorious boxers" you can actually edit your boxer from here to eternity anyway you want. Its like a wire mesh character with z and y axis #s. I'm saying that to say this, if I can actually go that deep and edit shapes on an old school game such as victorious boxers, I want to say I'm sure that the actual DEVELOPERS of Fight Night can get in there and slim down that area easily in their own game.

Has anyone seen any comments from Brizzo on this situation? Maybe on some other website. As a matter of fact, what do I type in to get to the youtube FN area? Brizzos always in there.

Maybe he'll listen if someone says something about it. If it hasn't already been addressed.:wink:

i agree.....taylor looks barrel-chested., which he is not. they are using some strange body animations for this one. how could they not notice this? i mean, round 3's were ok. round 2 was a little to muscular. 2004's were even decent.

I really don't get how visually they can get it so wrong. Tyson's face is way off, the body models are just rediculous, they all look mad and powty. These are professional artists working for a huge company. I go to the Academy of Art in SF and if I turned in a project with character models looking like that, my professors would make me completely redo them and I'm just a student, what ever happened to the render that Jenny Freeman showed us ?... that was perfect, every single thing in that EARLY render was spot on, how do they completely go in a backwards direction with this

id be getting on them even more about this, however im afraid they will "fix" it by making everyone overly ripped like they do in almost all video games. cant they just find a balance?

Yea, the pecs are straight on this pic. Not all smeared to the side. Just slim down that waistline and we're good.

I agree it's a little weird but if the actual gameplay is awesome then I'll overlook this. I hope they get the gameplay 100% right before they start worrying about waistlines, v shaped whatever, and correct pecs. What's next? Ali's butt looks fat in those shorts?
