To answer the question. Zero percent chance they do what you are asking for.

They built the NG games from the ground up, and they will not just abandon that to try and recreate the old gen versions of these games.

Yep, the funny thing is though that the Wii version of Madden is exactly what he is looking for... assuming you could pass normaly without the gimmicky funky controller thing? That I don't know about... it would be cool if you could just plug in a normal controller in the Wii and play a prettier version of PS2 Madden.

I would love for Ian or someone to chime in on this, because I don't see any way that this is the same engine. No one in their right mind would port a PS2 engine over to the PS3... NG Madden is built from the ground up, it just has to be, I would be SHOCKED if it wasn't.

To suggest that PS2 Madden and PS3 Madden share the same engine tells me that you have not played enough PS2 Madden. These are two COMPLETELY different games, period.

2k ported over their ps2 engines on all of their sports games. They were tops at first but MLB went downhill fast and NBA hasn't been making very many improvements lately and will be over passed. And NHL is already far behind EA.

2k basketball is way beyond EA though, but I mean its basketball how much more can you do?

And as far as the NFL for 2k, they need to drop it now PLEASE... All Pro Football 2K8 sold more then NHL. And since all the Legends signed a 3 year contract why DIDNT they make another one???

I am not the biggest fan of 2k anymore...

The game was too limited. No franchise... the non numerical stat thing wasn't a big hit... just not a lot of replay value for the offline user.

2k needs to just make a game with real player builds, fake names, and a powerful editor and they'd be back in business.

Well, it doesn't really answer the main question.... Are the PS3... Engines, or components or whatever you want to call them, are they built from scratch or was there any porting from the PS2 stuff?

Re: Whats the Chances of?

It's not the "engines" in place that make the game what it is. It is how they are used and what is created with the engines that make the game.
They started from scratch with next gen because there were limits with the old stuff and they knew going forward that it was a better option. There is a lot more potential in what they are using now, but up to this point they haven't done the greatest of jobs getting the most out of what they have.
This is my understanding of it all, so I might not be exactly correct.

Re: Whats the Chances of?

It is not the same engine.

All next gen Maddens were built from the ground up.

It is one of Ian's biggest regrets that they did not port the Madden engine directly from the PS2/Xbox versions and build upon them on the new consoles.

It has taught them a valuable lesson though, Ian said, that being that when the next next generation of consoles arrive they will no way start building a new engine again, but stick with this one. Only constantly refining it as the new hardware allows.

Re: Whats the Chances of?

Everything was built from the ground up that is why all the features needed to be completely rebuilt and not simply ported over.
