    Hidden Ball Trick

Orlando Hudson hit a triple against the Padres. Then in the cut scene after the play finished Kevin Kouzmanoff ,playing 3rd, walked over casually ,with the ball hidden behind his back and tried to tag out Hudson who had wandered off the base.
The 3rd base coach alerted him and he made it back, that's the first time I saw that, absolute classic!!!

I have yet to see this, but I've heard bout it plenty of times in the "Little Things" thread. Can't wait to witness it for myself.

I wonder if a baserunner ever gets tagged out. I remember when Mike Lowell did this a few years back.

Because most players are either very alert of the situation or don't step off the bag until they see the pitcher has the ball or he is on the rubber (it is a balk if you step on the rubber without the ball).

But that is very cool! I thought you were describing something that happened last night in real life or something, but then I went back and realized you said cut scene. I need to see that myself! (I need to triple as well lol)

Yesterday i seen this for the first time and i was like Holly Cow.. i know some may find this to be ehhh no big deal, it just took me by surprise.. i see the third baseman talking to the pitcher with the ball in his glove, then he walks back to third and nearly tags the guy out.. then the commentary says something to the effect of ohhh the old hidden ball trick!!.. just a little extra cool thing the dev crew put into the mix

Actually, I think you can't step on the mound all together not just the rubber. I could be wrong though.

                    Re: Hidden Ball Trick

Ozzie Guillen was caught twice with the hidden ball trick at first place.

I've seen it once with my RTTS, I think it was first base, I'm not sure. Pretty funny. By the way does anyone just leave the controller alone for a while when your pitcher is on the mound to watch some of the cut scenes? They're pretty funny, from the home plate umpire showing his home run swing to the hot shoe trick...

LOL.. Yea, when they show the scene of a guy lighting up another guy's shoe in the dugout, I always find that funny..

I know this is an old thread but it just happened to me so I had to pause the game. Jason Castro hit a triple and a cut scene showed Scott Rolen go to the mound to talk to the pitcher and the next scene showed the third base coach alerting Castro to get back on the base because Rolen had the ball. He made it back but it was funny because I was not expecting that to happen...great addition...

                          I believe that is correct.

I was going to mention Ozzie getting caught twice in ONE season, but someone else already has.

Never saw this animation; thought at first guy was joking. What a game!

I saw that animation today when I hit a triple with Pedroia. I was watching and heard Campbell say "The third baseman is visiting the mound to talk things over." They ran the clip and I thought Beltre still had the ball but figured it had to be an error in the graphics. As soon as I saw Pedey off the bag I realized what was up but there was nothing I could do. Fortunately he got back to the base just before Beltre tagged him. I'd be upset if he was tagged out after a leadoff triple!

                            Great addition to the game.

Well, this isn't in the game, but has anyone ever seen a steal of a walk? Back when I was in little league, I'd always do those two tricks (stealing on walks, and the hidden ball trick). All it is is when you're on base and a batter gets walked, just jog over to the next base like usual, and then start walking slowly towards the next base. Once you get about halfway there, run for your life, and you'll easily make it. First time I ever did it, I actually stole home doing this when the pitcher had the ball, and scored the winning run! My coach wasn't too happy though...
