Im not even joking about what just happened to me....this made me break my controller

Situation: Bottom of 9th im the Yankees playing the Rays in the ALCS. So far I had thrown 8 2/3 shutout innings with 8ks with Joba and only 4 hits allowed. All of a sudden the Rays scored 2 runs on a rally, I was dissapointed but was still feeling pretty good with a 13-2 lead.

Ill save you guys the story..... 2 pitchers later 11 MORE RUNS SCORED WITH 2 outs on 2 homers and 14 hits. THE UMP WAS CALLING EVERYTHING A BALL AND BALLS WERE GETTING UNDER MY FIELDERS A LOT. its 13-13 now and AROID saved me with a great diving play. but without a doubt the angriest a game has ever gotten me and now I cant finishh it because I broke my controller.

Also Ive been with the site for months but first post .... sooo hello everyone!

That sounds terrible.
I'm not going to say you didn't, but did you try using mound visits? I find that usually helps after two straight hits, sometimes I pay for it for not taking the guy out too.

Yea I did one right after Marte started getting rocked but didnt work


UPDATE i won 15-14 but holy **** I feel like I was hit with a heartattack! Had to get controller from my neighbour.

That happened to me tonight too, Cubs up 8-1 on St.L in the 8th, Zambrano pitching a great game, before I know it, it's 8-7, I did go on to win 9-7 but was dissapointed I couldn't get big Z the complete game

I can't even score three runs, so I never give the computer the opportunity to do that.

I do be dealing, though.

Just hit so many at-ems it's unreal.

Yep I've been through those crazy 8th inning AI comebacks. Its very frustrating.
Just went through one right now. Crusing along 3-1 over the Twins. The the 8th inning comes, and guess what they tie the game.

I even threw a pitch so far inside and the hitter was able to turn on it and rope down the line for a double, and I mean this pitch was way inside. No way he should have hit that ball fair.

It is so funny cause as soon as the AI hits the ball you can see it coming. Here we go again lol.

I even look at my options to see that AI comeback isn't on. Man I wonder what would the game be like if it was on.

i used to have same problem, in fact i still do sorta at times, i could only score from homeruns. now im more selective instead of hitting anything in the strike zone, i stay away from pitches breaking downward in the zone, 2 seam, sinker, sliders, etc.

but back to the topic, though not as epic as some of the other stories. I had an online game last night, me red sox, my opponent yankees. im up 3-2 in the middle innings and AROD crushes a cut fastball away and well out of the strike zone for 2 a run HR. down 3-4 in bottom the 9th and Ortiz hits a solo HR to tie the game. extra innings becomes pitching duel over several pitchers, eventually i gave up the winning run for the lose somewhere in the 15th or 16th inning.

i was mentally out of it, but im sure the controller would have been flying if i wasnt too tired and i would be at best buy today buying a new tv and controller.

I haven't gotten that upset yet but I do get frustrated every now and then. There are times where it seems no matter what pitch/location I pitch, the CPU will string together 4 or 5 consecutive hits. If it gets real bad, sometimes I'll just end up throwing a fastball down the middle. Sometimes they'll pop out and sometimes they'll just crush a home run.

That is what makes this game the G.O.A.T.. Just having the CPU be able to comeback at any time on you is such a breath of fresh air. Just another example of what makes this the absolut greatest sports franchise ever.
