Shotgun Formation in Madden 10.
 

So it's come to my attention, as well as a few others (who pointed this out in other threads), that we've seen what I believe to be an issue regarding the QB and RB's placement in the Shotgun formations.

• The QB's all seem to be standing very far back from the center. Too far, I believe.
• And the HB's all seem to be behind the OT, and seemingly, their outside foot is actually beyond the outside foot of the OT they're behind.

I'm not one to be nitpicky, but this really stood out to me. Maybe it's a bug? Maybe it's an error on the Dev. Team's part. Perhaps it's based on the playbook you're using or the play you've chosen. I'm not sure... But I think it needs to be addressed.


This is what you usually see in a Shotgun formation:






The most recent videos coming from E3 and the Eagles vs. Dallas:

• So here, you can see in all of the formations, that the HB is lined up in the same spot, regardless of playbook. And also that the QB seems quite far back, despite being in Shotgun.
• I feel that if they formations aren't going to be true-to-life, that they need to be fixed in general. As of now, the Shotgun this year looks REALLY odd.
• *Just noticed* After looking at these images again, it came to my conclusion that the OL placement in Madden is off just a bit also. Typically, the OT's should be further back than the OG's. And the C should be noticeably more up field than the OT's.
  • From looking at the Madden screens, you can see that the OL is too straight across, which could be partially why the pocket forms oddly, as well as gives the impression that the QB and RB are out of place.

Any comments from devs would be great.

Well from those pictures it looks like the QB is lined up almost 7 yards back instead of the typical 5 yards as I remember. Hummmm its still an early build so we don't know yet, hopefully they see it though.

The setup of the formation seemed fine to me in 09. Maybe SLIGHTLY off, but nothing that would really stand out. This stands out to me.

I have shots of 6 different teams in a Shotgun formation, and they all look pretty much the same. That is not the case in real life. And on top of the formations/playbooks still not being better... The formation looks really odd.

It might be slightly off but I don't see nothing really big of a problem here.:wink:

Well the HB looks like its split too far out as well a handoff would be kind of weird. I wonder if they did that to help with forming the new pocket? The is the only thing I can think off for them to have changed it like that.

Slightly = 1-2 yards off at least.
Makes a noticeable difference.
