    Sack Record?

Calais Campbell had a MONSTER season with 28 sacks and got me wondering what is the most anyone has had in a season? He padded his stats a little bit with 10 sacks against the backup RT and slow release Jamarcus Russell.

I had Aaron Kampman record 24 sacks. That's the most I've ever had.
Terrance Marshall (SP?), my 90 Overall RE, had 8 sacks in one game and did NOT win Def. Player of the Week in the NFC. One of the Eagles DB's had 3 picks; 2 for TD's.

I'm going to get Bake right now.lol Really what playbook are you using to rack up the sacks? Gaines Adams in Tampa 2 is consistently 15+

I was over right at thirty once, can't remember if it was 28 or 29, Xavier Cox. This was with four games remaining, and I just simmed the rest of the way to the playoffs. I have no clue what number he would have reached had I played the last month.

Are you guys playing these games or simming them? I play a tampa 2 defense and i think i only have like 25ish sacks in total so far and im going into my 14th game of the season. What kind of plays do you guys run to get these monster numbers?

Tampa 2 will never get that many sacks. They are not a pressure defense. You need to run a blitz heavy pressure defense to get them. (or do like I do an call a bunch of blitzes by hand which is how I got 20+ with Campbell)

Tampa 2 focuses on forcing dropped passes and turnovers, and does it REALLY well when you get the right players in it. (14 picks in 3 games this season with a stud defense running tampa 2. Every cover guy is at least 90+ in ZCV and Potential.)

A couple weeks ago I could never imagine getting 20+ sacks but this season my SS JJ Collins has 12 sacks in 5 games in the 4-2-5.
                NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
                NCAAF: Miami Hurricanes

Running a 4-3 I have topped 40 with bake and running a 3-4 I have with devin mayo. Bake's rookie season for me one time he didn't have any sacks in the first 7 games and then ended the season with 29. He is a beast.

                    Re: Sack Record?

Thank you rpeiper. I currently have about 20 turnovers in 13 games so my team is getting alot of turnovers. Its just frustrating since i have two dts with 90 ovr and a le with 89 and a re with 88. They are able to create pressure to force turnovers but every once in a while i wish i had more sacks.

I play the games, unless I happen to have everything wrapped up and just want to sim the last couple to get to the playoffs.

I use the Jags Physical Defense.A lot of man coverage that makes the linebackers drop instead of blitz. I don't call my own defensive plays, and have my philosophies set to "blitz normal". It's easier to get sacks with a blitz setup, but with certain players, you don't really need to do that to get sacks. there just aren't really that many players in the game I've come across that can get a high number of sacks without blitzing often. Campbell and Cox are two that can put good pressure on the QB regardless of what play you call. Kind of realistic in the sense that truly dominant pass rushers are hard to come across. If you come accros one of those types of players, you don't really have to consistantly blitz. Actually, either one should work pretty well in a Cover Two philosophy, provided you have a good line all around. What makes Cox a beast is his high speed/ strength combination. I've had players in his potision with high potentials, but they didn't have as high ratings in those individual catagories.

You can generally tell if you have a true dominant player or not by switching philisophies for his position. If you switch a 95 potential player from one philosophy to another, for example, and his potential stays about the same, he's just a montser player. If you switch and it causes a big drop in his potential rating, he's a one trick pony, and if that one trick doesn't work, he can't do much beyond that to help you. If he's only a high potential as a speed rusher, he's going to have trouble with certain types of linemen, and even against slower, powerful tackles, if his initial jump doesn't do the trick, he's pretty much done for.
