Re: Best Year One Teams
How did you get those high end free agents and still have cap space?

Exactly- you have the two best CBs and LBs available in FA, among others, plus you must have traded for Witten. No way you have Cap Space. |

Re: Best Year One Teams
It looks like the team is gonna be good for year one and year one only. Once the cap, penalties, and top ten rookie salaries kick in its gonna be trouble.

Re: Best Year One Teams
I used to play that way. I have made a team that had almost the exact same personal and was able to turn the Dolphins into a 14-2 season.(stupid Patriots, they are cheat mode) I was also able to take the Lions/49ers and go 12-4 with each.
The game was just to easy to grab all the best talent and then run deep into the play offs. I had to apply house rules to limit the amount of talent I was able to pick up. I now only allow 3 starters to be picked up at most and can pick up to 5 back-ups as long as they do not have a lot of potential. |
Re: Best Year One Teams
This is my Dolphins Franchise before the patch
QB: Andre Woodson, Josh Johnson HB: Ronnie Brown, Xavier Omon, Anthony Alridge FB: Reagan Mauia, Jerome Vatter WR: Ted Ginn, Jr., DeSean Jackson, Sinorice Moss, Devin Hester, Shaun McDonald TE: L.J. Smith, Jermichael Finley, David Martin (trying to get Mike Peterson) LT: Stacy Andrews (Moved him to LT from LG), Vernon Carey, Jason Thomas LG: Jeff Faine (Moved to LG from C), Donny Dickey C: Samson Satele, Drew Mormino RG: Jake Scott, B.B. Garrett RT: Jordan Gross, Seth Wand LE: Matt Roth, Erik Brown, Russell Foley NT: Dre Moore, Hank Smithers RE: Calais Campbell, Tony Bake LOLB: Joey Porter, Bobbie Brady ILB: Ray Lewis, Patrick Willis, Damon Gather, Edmond Miles ROLB: Jason Taylor (moved to ROLB from RE), Channing Crowder CB: Asante Samuel, Randall Gay (They were the best two in FA that year), Zack Bowman, Will Allen, Walter Page FS: Ken Hamlin, Josh Barrett SS: Chris Horton, Jason Allen K: Jay Feely P: Josh Miller as you can tell i kind of went to the defensive side of the field in both free agency and in the draft. and during the draft i did alot of trading down so next year i have 3 first round picks (one that looks out to be the 1st pick), 2 second round picks, 2 third round picks, 1 fouth round, and im not sure for the rest. But yeah, ill probaly end up trading away some of my players like Josh Johnson, John Beck, Reagan Mauia, and either Jeff Faine or Samson Satele to get some picks in next years draft (English Path :p). Oh and btw i have 11.43M CAP right now, 25.74M for next year, so i plan to build alittle more in the draft in less in free agency. |
Re: Best Year One Teams
Any team can be great in year one if you have a good draft and FA.
