Salary Cap Penalty Worries
I started off my career by cutting 3 deadweights-Cedric Benson, Ricky Manning, and 1 other. I now have 20 million in Penalties for the first year in cap penalties, and 15 million in cap space. I've got Olan Kreutz and Tommy Harris who will be seeking extensions in the regular season, not to mentioned a million back up players as well. Will I end up with negative cap space?Tags: None -

Re: Salary Cap Penalty Worries
You might. It is likely that Harris will want a huge contract. If you can sign a player for close to what they are making now it wont hit your cap too much. But if they are say making 230k a year and want a 5 mil a year contract you will be in trouble.
As far as signing backups...I do it IF I can get them to sign contracts with no bonus. Then if I dont find anyone better...or cheaper...I have that spot taken care of. If I do get someone to replace them I can cut them and it doesnt cost me a penalty.Comment

Re: Salary Cap Penalty Worries
With my GM at Level 5 in Contract Negotation, Olin still wanted a minimum of 7.2m each year for two years with a 2.5m bonus when his contract came up. You'll likely have to choose between him and Harris.Comment
