RIP Steve McNair.

Former Oilers/Titans quarterback Steve McNair is dead of a gunshot wound according to Nashville police. Authorities are calling the incident a murder-suicide but have not released the identity of the other victim.

McNair led the Titans to their one-and-only Super Bowl appearance after the 1999 season, nearly guiding them to victory over the St. Louis Rams. He last played in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens in 2007.

Update: Police initially reported the incident as an apparent murder-suicide, but now that has been changed to double homicide. The other victim was an unnamed female.

Update: Police say Steve McNair was shot to death by his wife who then took her own life, confirming the original murder-suicide report.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair is dead.

Metro police have confirmed the former Titans star was found slain and is the victim of an apparent murder-suicide.

The identity of the other person was not immediately known.

No other information is available at this time.

R.I.P. if this is true. McNair has always been a classy guy and I loved the way he played the game. This is just shocking beyond words

I seriously just watched the Pros Vs Joes like 3 weeks ago where he was on it with PacMan and Priest.

Man... this is terrible news. Couldn't be a classier guy in the NFL

Nobody is carrying this besides blogs and a few local places, so hopefully it's not true.

CNN, ESPN, SI, and Fox News all have nothing on their websites.

They're usually the last ones in regards to these kind of things. TMZ and other sites of that ilk had info about Michael Jackson's death a good hour before the mainstream news outlets.

Plus, I put more credibility when it's being reported by local Nashville news outlets.
