Gamestop promo
How does the NCAA team let Gamestop run a promotion offering to trade this back in for Madden with the slogan "Take your game to the next level." Sure, I get the significance of that saying in a sports sense but couldn't someone also look at that and say that NCAA is EA's "practice" version of football and Madden is the better product all-around? If I'm on the NCAA dev team, I would be all over that. I mean, if I were an uninformed customer, I might look at that and say "pass on NCAA because it isn't as good as Madden, which is only a month away anyway." I just thought that was interesting...PSN: JWGoNDTags: None -
Re: Gamestop promo
I thought it was odd too that they were giving out coupons for $40 trade-in. I know for at least the last couple of years they have accepted it and essentially say the credit goes toward Madden (it's really just store credit), but this year they seem to be pushing it. It's almost as if they know the game is awful and people will gladly trade it in for Madden instead.
Not sure I fully understand paying $60 to basically rent the game for a month. It also makes me wonder if NCAA is just becoming the junior version of Madden and will never truly be its own game. If that is the case, this game will never be any good, and if that's how EA has it set up, they ought to start selling it at $20 or $30 (wishful thinking). -
Re: Gamestop promo
Yeah, but it worked. I bought NCAA, just to trade it in, but they get the sale no matter what I do with it. I'm sure many others did this also.Comment

Re: Gamestop promo
It's actually really good business for EA. They sell a game new. It gets traded in a month later and another of their games is bought new. They make very good money off this deal. How does the NCAA team let Gamestop run a promotion offering to trade this back in for Madden with the slogan "Take your game to the next level." Re: Gamestop promo
Doing this gives Gamestop tons of copies to sell at a nice markup when the casual gamers come in looking for the game when it's actually college football season.
Gamestop is brilliant with their business, as lots of people buying NCAA now are probably Madden hoppers anyways.Last edited by bkfount; 07-16-2009, 03:29 PM.Comment

Re: Gamestop promo
I'm not gonna do it. I got the same coupon and was extremely surprised when I saw it. Kinda peeved me off too. I enjoy both games. It's kinda like saying "This game sucks trade it in for something better." Right now I'm enjoying NCAA 10 and already prepaid for Madden. But that's the nature of business. If anyone wants this coupon PM me and I'll mail it to ya.Win, Lose, or Tie. I'll be a Georgia Fan 'til I Die. GO DAWGS!Comment

Re: Gamestop promo
I actually traded my madden in last yr after a few months (I bought the limited edition one) because I thought it sucked ***. I play college way more than Madden. Hell last yr I played NFL Head Coach '09 more than Madden.Comment

Re: Gamestop promo
This promotion may not hurt the Madden series but it does hurt NCAA. There will be a bunch of used copies for people like me who refuse to give the NCAA series a dime for a subpar product. I can wait knowing that in a month there will be a used copy. You looking at the Chair MAN!
Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.Comment
