<B> Kyle Blanks </b> finally broke out of his July slump going 3-4 and belting out 2 HR's to lead the Padres to victory over divisional rivals Colorado Rockies. Picking up the win and ending the three game losing streak was rookie Mat Latos. The win was also Latos first career win. Hamels cruised through 8 innings of work allowing 0 Runs on 6 hits, 2 of which came in the 9th before being pulled for Closer Brad Lidge, who picked up his 15th save on the season. The Phillies offensive contribution came from a solo HR by Raul Ibanez and later a 3 Run shot off the bat of Lead off man Jimmy Rollins. ![]() According to the MLB Rumor Mill,teams are scouting Padre players as they continue to downward spiral out of contention. According to sources, the Chicago White Sox, New York Mets and Washington Nationals are interested in ACE RHP <b>Jake Peavy</b>. <b>Adrian Gonzalez</b> is also drawing interest from the Mets, Rockies, and Angels. This isn't uncommon as teams are actively trying to get better and acquire top tier caliber players to enhance their chances of winning the coveted World Series. Other big names rumored are <b> Josh Beckett</b> who is being linked to the White Sox and Astros, <b>Scott Kazmir</b> linked to the same two teams and <b>Carlos Marmol </b> who is being scouted by the Red Sox, Yankees and White Sox. In terms of positional players <b> Lance Berkman </b> may be a Met or Angel soon and teammate <b> Carlos Lee</b> may end up a Cub, Rockie, or Giant. |
