    Sun Belt to SEC Powerhouse...

...and when I say 'powerhouse', I mean playing style. I'm looking for the best Sun Belt team to take and transform into a completely different animal.

Basically, my plan is to take a Sun Belt team, sim games and recruit the talent to transform them into a powerhouse running team (think Wisconsin) with a stout defense to attempt to crash the SEC's speed-happy party. I know I know, sounds like an impossible task, but I wanna try to take this achievement (and I'm not even really doing it for that...I'm just trying something different for myself) and run (literally) with it.

So essentially, I'm asking which Sun Belt team would you use for this task? Which existing playbook would you use? And which defense scheme?

I'm looking for a playbook with alot of big Ace, I-form, Broken I's, and maybe some split back. I'm looking to avoid shotgun, but if there are a few formations, I can live with that. And I'm thinking about either a 4-3 or Multiple D playbook (any way to run a 4-4 base at all times? Anyone know?), so lemme get your ideas on that.

Oh, and what do you think I should be looking for, recruit-wise, with whatever scheme you suggest?

Thanks guys. Looking forward to the suggestions.

Go with FIU or FAU. They have that great recruiting base. North Texas as well. Really the only difference between these teams, for what you want to do, is who's stadium and uniforms do you like playing in the most?

Haha, I guess you're right about the uniform part. I was actually leaning towards MTSU (nice stadium, cool unis/alternates, decent offense to start), but FIU, FAU and North Texas all make strong cases because of their strong recruiting bases. Hmmmm...decisions, decisions.

      Anyone else?

I'm at UL Lafayette, there around Texas, Mississippi, Arkansas, and is in the football talented state of Louisiana. Great school with nice uniforms and Brandon Stokley, Jake Delhomme and Charles Tillman played there. Tyrell Fenroy was a beast for them till he grad last season. FAU has the great Rusty Smith. Troy has a lot of talent.

Haha. My first thought when I read his post was, FAU all the way.

Mid Ten has a good recruiting base as well. Not as good as the three I mentioned, but I think those black alt unis might make up for it!

Agreed. I think MTSU is leading at the moment. Might give it a day to see what other suggestions I get, but I might mess around and see what I can come up with before then.

MTSU has a good Junior QB in Dwight Dasher. I haven't played with them on this years game but he was a good one in 09. He had some pretty good speed.

Definitely Middle Tennessee State. I'm in the middle of my first year with them and Dwight Dasher (QB) is a freak at QB. He's quick and has a decent enough arm to do some damage. The problem with that team though, is that their average size in skill positions is about 5'9 175 lbs. Dasher is only 5'10 202lbs, their starting halfback is 5'8 168 lbs buts hes a firecracker when he gets around the edge.

I love their colors, too. The blue and silver is nice to begin with, but when you add in the alternate unis, you've got a winner. I'm building a similar type of offense as you that is built more around out muscling the opponent and shutting down the opposition with a solid defense.

                  Good luck!!!

I go to MTSU, I'm a senior here and it is a great atmosphere at football games and I agree that the uniforms are really nice. We also have a Unicorn as our mascot...how can a recruit resist a school with that? Haha but I agree with everything the guy above said...Dasher is going to be good and the offense is pretty nice for a low major school.

You can recruit TN, Kentucky, GA areas pretty good with MTSU and pick up some nice 2 and 3 stars your first couple of years to build your team up.

I play with Troy, but I wouldn't suggest them for your offense. In fact, most Sun Belt teams are pass heavy. MTSU is a safe bet because they graduate a lot after year one, allowing you to mold the team as you see fit.

I did this in 09 with FIU, but unfortunately when I got the big conference invite, it was to the ACC and not the SEC like I was trying. Wasnt sure how long it would take to get another invite, so I jumped on it.

I would stay away from Texas schools are you are more likely going to be invited into the big 12 rather then the SEC.

The fact that only one person has suggested Troy is an indicator of how forgotten the school is in terms of Ratings.

I guess a third straight Sun Belt title won't change that either.

Not that anyone cares outside of the conference....Hell i should be thankful we're even in the game.

Troy is by far the best team in the conference, but they're not a fit for the program he's trying to build.

Truthfully, none of the teams in the Sun Belt are fit for the program I'm trying to build...which is the reason I'm trying to take a team and revamp them completely. I don't care what kind of offense or defense they run currently in the game, I'm going to recruit heavily for a smashmouth run based offense and stout defense, and turn them into a Wisconsin-esque pro style team.

At least I hope that's what I'm gonna do, haha.

                              Still looking for suggestions.
