"SIM-STYLE" ballers..what goes on in your head?

hear me out and ill hear you out
Its like you guys want unrealistic "realism", you want the game "realistic" but that itself is unrealistic....think about it
i just dont understand what you really want with a "SIM-STYLE" football game. i know you guys want it to be more realistic but does the control and fun have to be comprimised???

additions to madden in the past years such as hit stick, playmaker, lead-blocking control, and run/pass commit have been completely removed from madden(except hit stick, but that will probably be next)!!!! because the "SIM" community thinks its not "realistic". but IMO they have been DRASTIC improvements in creating a more interactive game and handing the user MORE control over the outcome of any given situation; whether that situation is a 4th and short and you know your opponent is running the ball, or you want to create your own lane to run through, or the play breaks down and you want to tell your wr to go to an opening.

Its leads me to believe you guys would rather have a game that less interactive as opposed to more interactive, and thats a problem; i want to play the game....not watch it. maybe a game that mimics TOTAL CONTROL SIMULATION where control is not compromised to be more realistic is more reasonable.

I always thought madden and other football games were simulation games for the simple fact they were video games and simulate football!!! but reading through these forums i see you guys wants something else and thats OK its really OK, however, i think the "SIM-STYLE" game you guys have been asking for is a step backward for madden.

Its seems like more aspects of the game that WE could have at least SOME control over are being handed to the computers A.I. to create a "SIM" game, but EA has been giving you guys this type of game for years, here's how you get it: 1. go to play now
    2. choose teams. 3 be sure to NOT move your controller over to the L/R and wala!! thats your simulation!! just watch the computer do EVERYTHING

I also think you guys will be very dissapointed to find that this madden is just as glitched as any other past maddens

so lets discuss this and the future madden with some sense, because i just dont get you guys

All i want in a game is realistic running styles, realistic blocking, tackling, catching, throws, Things that make a football football... Once you got these fundamentals of football right... Then add all the features that makes a game fun like madden iq, mini games and such

If you want to replicate real football, why not do it rite...

I just don't like people going for it on 4th down and when they don't get it and are trailing 14-0, they quit.

First of all, I believe the hit stick is sim because players in real life go for the big hit. There's risks and rewards to doing it, and shouldn't be removed IMO.

Secondly, I find it fun if it's realistic. As long as I feel like I'm playing actual football, that's what I find fun in a football game.

I think you can break down fans a spectrum of what they think they want.

On the far left are gamers who want to have a fun game to compete with their friends in that happens to be football. They don't care about realism or simulation. They want to devise their own strategies for the game that have no real relation to whether it'd work in an actual game of football. They want every play to look like highlight reel footage because that's what they're here for. Lots of long passes, pic-sixes, touchdown kickoff returns, final scores of 73-70. Exciting, fast paced.

On the far right is football lovers who want a realistic simulation of a real football game and reflects the strategies found on the field. Anything that works in the game and not in real life (dropping back 20 yards on a pass play, over-the-top catch animations, changing directions in a heartbeat, etc) burns their eyes like fire.

It sounds like you fall somewhere left of center and I fall somewhere right of center.

If EA strays too far from the center with Madden, they lose a significant portion of their fanbase. So they add features that push it left (weapons, etc), then next year, they add features pushing it right (slowed gameplay, etc.)

IMHO, most people are mistaken about what they want though. Madden 04 and 05 were not awesome because they were more realistic. If you remove the rose-tinted glasses, you'll remember there were money plays in those too, and ways to abuse the laws of physics. The next-gen madden titles weren't terrible because they were less realistic. The truth (IMHO) is 04 and 05 were fun and rewarding to play regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, and the next-gen titles have been not-fun and not-rewarding to play, regardless of where you fall on the spectrum. And that's the problem, and hopefully that's what will be fixed in 10. I've enjoyed the madden 10 demo more than the retail versions from the last few years.

How does EA handle that...do you at least get a win? I know with 2k5 you played against a detailed profile of the player you were playing as if they quit against you which was nice

You play it a video game, some people want to play it like they are actually watching a NFL game. The Playstation days are over. Too much control leads to unrealistic animations such as branching out gang tackle by doing special attacks ignoring the fundamentals or the physics.

You don't care about how things are done, only the results matter to you. You prefer a highlight reel every play. D Madden doesn't simulate football. The fundamentals of the sport is non-existent. The physics are ignored. It not that difficult to understand, you're just not willing to.

i really don't think you understand what Sim is, i think any semi-die hard football fan that watches & plays football games wants a sim game (i.e. realistic animations & movements, true to life status per game etc and to play again people who don't go for it on every 4th down, do onsides constantly & so on), who doesn't want that!?

i don't get were all this 'less control b/c of sim players' talk keeps coming from with you just because sim players want an actual QB pocket, realistic broken tackles, catches and other animations...? it doesn't add up...

Re: "SIM-STYLE" ballers..what goes on in your head?

I want a chess match whose moves and counters represent real world football moves and counters. For example = I'd like to counter a deep passing offense with a blitz. In turn he can counter with a draw or screen. I can then counter with man coverage. He can then counter with drag routes... etc.

What has bothered me about Madden the past few years is I didn't feel like I could call a football game based around getting football solutions to football problems. I don't want to run the same pass plays all the time. I don't want to rely on rocket catches, FB dives, and WR warping. That's not football. Don't even get me started with the OL pocket. Let's just say playing APF 2k8 makes it impossible to go back to any pre-madden 10's.

That being said, I like what I see so far in the demo. Interactions are much improved and I"m envisioning the possibility of strategy returning to the Madden franchise. That's what it's all about for me: Human vs. Human strategy.

None of that stuff was removed because of sime style gamers, stop making flame posts and unwarrented accusations just to get attention.

Im actually not far left or far right im really split, IMO if two players are on the same level then game result should be something like 24-21 but if two players are on different levels, then the game may have an "UNREALISTIC" outcome. for example i play on the ps3, username: a_cHE, 398-53 record NO GLITCHING, and i consistently beat those not on my level by 30 40 + points but when i play someone with skill on my level the game rarely exceeds a final score where someone is up by 14 or more points. I've always said that madden is as realistic as the two players playing, and if you think about that, u'll find it true. thats why i think the "SIM" guys out there who expect this madden to be diff from the rest will be dissapointed. theres always going to be someway to master the game far and beyond the average talent, when that happens you get ppl saying "OH, the game is unrealistic", "what team scores 73 points" and thats when i say "its a video game" and "your just not good" if you were on my level, we'd have a realistic outcome
