Well, this is a surprise on a Friday afternoon. Of course, there aren't too many big-name video game companies remaining in the market, so it basically came down to THQ, Electronic Arts, or no one buying the rights to TNA's video game franchise. We've reported over the past few months that WWE and THQ are "on the outs" and this upcoming Smackdown vs. Raw series in the fall might be the last title the two companies work on. THQ buying the rights to TNA's series gives more credence to our report. If WWE and THQ end their business agreement after SvR 2010, WWE won't have a video game home, although I very much doubt that WWE would leave themselves high-and-dry without having a back-up plan. They ditched Jakks for Mattel in the toy department, so I wouldn't be surprised to see WWE announce a new video game deal with another company in the near future.

That would be the best news to come for WWE video games in a long time. Contact AKI aka syn Sophia, Inc and see what they can do.PSN: VoicesWrestling

Re: THQ purchases TNA Impact video game

EA will snap it up 5 seconds after THQ is fired or the contract runs out or whatever. I guess Activison is a possibilty too then we'd have 4 WWE games a year and John Cena will be added as playable in DJ Hero. I hope EA gets it anyway cause they actually come here and would hopefully listen to us. Comment

Re: THQ purchases TNA Impact video game

Tell me about it, I was so disappointed in the first effort. The graphics were great, but the gameplay was downright horrible. I'll be excited for the full entrance scenes. Unfortunately, the Stinger will most likely be gone by then......maybe he'll be an unlockable.Highheat's O's Franchise

Re: THQ purchases TNA Impact video game

 Nope, this didn't happen.

 Source: PWTorch.com

On Friday, we reported that THQ acquired the rights to Midway's San Diego studio responsible for producing the first TNA video game. However, THQ's purchase did not include the TNA franchise. We originally reported that it did include the TNA video game. As of right now, the TNA video game franchise is still without a developer.

THQ tells the Torch: "We are not purchasing the rights to the TNA Impact game. That is specifically exclude from the agreement."http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: THQ purchases TNA Impact video game

Does anyone really want EA developing a WWE game?? They're just as bad as Yukes pukes. Besides, anyone remember WCW Mayhem and Backstage Assault???

I'm with the guy thats hoping for AKI. WWF No Mercy and WWF WM 2000 are still better than any game Yukes pukes develops.Comment
