Bizarre speed ratings for players in Madden 2010...

Not sure if this was brought up yet or not....

I just picked up Madden 2010 (360) today, and the very first thing I did was check player attribute ratings.

What immediately struck me as odd was the speed ratings that EA gave some of the players!

    A good example...

    OLT - Joe Staley (49ers) has a 75 speed.

This is higher than ALL but 15 QB's in the game.
Higher than 7 HB's in the game.
    Higher than 34 FB's.
    Higher than 3 WR's.
    Higher than a whopping 74 TE's!!
    Higher than a staggering 112 LB's !!!
Only 2 to 4 points lower than the speed of 14 CB's!
    Higher than 19 safeties.

Now I know Staley is (and should be) the fastest O-Lineman in the game.
But no way is he faster than THAT MANY skill position players.

    Also of note:

Patrick Willis is a 90 speed.
According to that, he'd outrun Josh Cribbs (89 spd)

There are 25 WR's with less than 80 speed.
Muhsin Muhammad, Marty Booker, Jason Avant, Amani Toomer, and DJ Hackett most notably.
There are 3 punters who would outrun those WR's! With Brian Moorman at a 90 spd!

The slowest HB in the game is LaBrandon Toefield with a 70 spd.
According to EA, there are 7 DT's and 5 OT's who would beat Toefield in a footrace.

MLB - Nick Griesen has a 61 spd. According to EA, there are an amazing 65 O-Linemen in the game who would beat Griesen in a footrace!

I haven't played many games yet, so I've yet to determine what (if any) effect this has on the gameplay, but does anyone else find this very odd?

Brian Moorman fully deserves that 90 speed rating!

Different positions' speed ratings are weighted differently. Pretty sure a 99 speed WR is faster than a 99 speed Center and whatnot.

Remember the speed rating isn't the only thing you should consider. Acceleration is another factor to it.

Colonel Sandurz: Prepare ship for light speed.
Dark Helmet: No, no, no, light speed is too slow.
Colonel Sandurz: Light speed, too slow?
Dark Helmet: Yes, we're gonna have to go right to ludicrous speed.

brian moorman was a 5 time track and field all american in college and i think he won a national championship in the 400 hurdles, 90 spd for him is legit, runs like a 4.4 40 i think

                      It's not.....

The only difference is lets say they give that WR 99 speed and 94 Acceleration vs the OL 99 speed and only 60 acceleration.

That's the only difference.....otherwise if they rate both players with the same speed and acceleration there will be no difference at all.

It doesn't matter what posistion because the speed doesn't fluctuate based on posistion. If a guy has 99 speed than it means he has 99 speed regardless of weight or size.
