First a little back story. On July 11th after watching the first M10 video by EA of the Chiefs and Falcons I posted this:

I thank Ian for his honest reply. He didn't have to do this. I accepted his challenge. Now, Aug 13th at around 10pm at the Game Crazy I pre-ordered my copy of Madden 10 I was allowed to play the game. To be totally fair I set up my first game as the 49ers v the Giants on All-Pro with 10min quarters and 15sec run off and Normal game speed.

This was the result:

Again, with all fairness I also went home with my copy, having only played that one game of M10 and recorded a full length game to put on youtube as I was challenged to do. I am still cutting it into 10min segments, saving them, and uploading them onto youtube.

Impressions? It is great game and lots of fun. I thank Ian for all the work he has done, it shows.

I'm not calling you a liar, but I'm sure Ian is going to need to see more proof than that video or some videos you upload at a later date.

I just don't know what more proof you need? what would better prove it to you?

I'm not mad, I just want to know, what can you really do in this day and age to truly prove something to someone unless hey are there? He can call the Game Crazy and ask the manager of the store, he was there, or the employee who shot that footage for me.

What more can I should I do?

I can privately give out the store number if needed.

if this is as far as it went, he didnt specify what kind of box ...i doubt its one with a brand new copy of madden 10 in it

I don't expect one with a game in it, but I would like an empty M10 box with M10 cover paper signed by the crew. Obviously with Ian's name in the "center" where it is most legible ;).

I dunno man, it seems like one of those "sure, yeah, whatever" type of bets :) I don't think he ever REALLY thought it was a real bet.

On a different note, is this actually happening?

I believe Ian is a man of his word and will come though. In regards to he game play, yes as a user you feel the pass rush more than ever before and most of the time it is "fair." I am a pocket passer for the most part and like to throw timing routes and play in the confines of my QB's strengths and weaknesses. As S. Hill I throw a lot of flats, drags, curls, posts, in/out routes, and screens to move the ball instead of taking long shots down field. When I see Ian play it looks like he is trying for a lot more medium and long range shots. These take more time and more time in the pocket.

Maybe he will send you an autographed copy, but seeing that he works for EA, he will probably charge you to have the box shipped to you, the ink for signing the box and time and labor.

That is funny. My question is why would you even want an autographed copy from some developers of a video game?

That reminds me of the time when I was a kid that my parents came home with the autograph of some local news guy for me. I tried to be thankful, but come on... seriously?

Because, as you put it, the game is fun so far, or because I respect the work Ian and the team have done and I think that would be cool to have the autographs of those who helped make what appears to be the best Madden to date, or because it would serve as a sort of "trophy." There are several reasons IMO, the least of which is that I won a bet :P.

Just thought I would do a follow up. On the 16th Ian replied via Twitter and gave me info on where/how I should send my box to them. I was able to actually do this on the 24th, a week later. I have sent Ian two private messages. One via Twitter the other via XBL. I understand that he is a busy man, and they have been flying out to visit John madden and what not. I am not in any rush, however, I have been here at home for almost a full month with no word from Ian, not even "I got your box, but it'll be a while before we can get it done." or anything. I don't really want to call him out or anything, I would just like some info on the status.

Well, all I can say is, a man is only as good as his word and a bet is a bet. Sounds to me after reading this that a bet was indeed made and that the losing party is recalcitrant about living up to their end of the bet, especially being as how sure they seemed of victory from the evidence presented here.

And to the OP, if the bet was for Ian to send to you a signed box, then, that is what you should get as per the terms of the bet. The onus is not on you to send anything to the losing party, as, that was not in the terms of the wager as it is presented here.

One can only hope this will give the losing party in this matter some clairty of vision in the future.
