For one, the ratings are done pretty poorly.
Right now, I am playing as the Steelers with Jeff Reed. Admittedly, he isnt doesnt have the strongest leg in the league, but he CONSISTENTLY makes it inside 50 yards unless its in terrible conditions.
I am playing Minny in the Dome, and I kicked two FGs from 41 and 44. Both were perfectly kicked on the meter...right down the middle and maxed out power, and STILL I came up short on both.
In the game, Reed has a kick power of 87. With the stretched out rating system, that should still be enough to kick a 50-53 yard field goal, dont you agree? I mean, I would say kickiers that have 99 kick power should have enough leg stregth to be able to set the NFL record. 99 is as good as it gets, so a player with 99 should be able to kick it 65-68 yards if done perfectly in good conditions.
87 should at least be able to hit 50-53 yards without the wind. Im not sure if EA used any logic when setting these ratings.
I really dont want to turn Jeff Reeds kick power up, but if I am coming up 5 yards short on 44 yard field goals with maxed out power, I may have to bump it up to like 95, even though I admit he probably doesnt deserve it.
As for punting...why does the CPU botch the punt every other time? Even if its a great punter, I can count on the CPU kicking it out of bounds a few times each game.
Does EA realize how important special teams are? Apparently not, since theyve been broke for years.
