The worst thing about this game, and a solution

So after reading and posting in a couple threads here for the 1st time in a couple weeks, I did a logical progression in my head (something NCAA apparently cant do .. har har) and this is what I came up with.

The worst part of this game is that, legitimately, on field, it is a better football gameplay product than 2009. In all facets of the game. This is however ruined and made pointless by the fact that progression ruined the offline main feature of the game, dynasty. No self respecting football gaming fan or college fan can have fun running a dynasty where Fresno State wins the NC, or USC loses the Rose Bowl to Troy or some **** (I cant remember but it was bad). But that, my friends, isn't the end of it. The REAL worst thing about all this is that even then, after playing Madden now for a week, it's very clear that even with progression fixed I wouldn't play NCAA. Madden is a better product, more polished, more precise. Running is as good as 2k5 was, passing feels realistic, and if you dont like the game speed, injury frequency, or, difficulty, they are all perfectly adjustable with working, responsive sliders.

So then the question becomes, for hard core college ball lovers like us... what is the remedy?

Fire the entire dev team for NCAA, and bring in a small team to take the Madden code as its being built, and make it college. All you need to do is add the art, stadiums, and the option to make the game play college. Scrap franchise and instead put in a recruiting system that works (very basic code) and a progression system that makes sense (again very basic code... shame on the current Dev team for ****ing up even a cup of coffee in the coding world). This would save EA money, give us a great football product, and smarten up the devs who ruined this once great series.

You make it sound like we actually have some kind of power or influence to make these kinds of things happen. I wish we did but we don't.

I would suggest to you that we do, and, more importantly, the mass populace does. Declining sales speak louder than this forum post does.

        Good point.

I think it's come to a point now where we at least have an increasing number of people no longer jumping and just buying these games on day one sight unseen.

I've been like that for about 3 years with Madden and will be like that with NCAA from now on (although I think 10 is a LOT better than 09 was.)

I'm someone who has played and bought every Madden and NCAA game since day one on the Genesis and I know I'm hardly the only "old timer" that's feeling this way and reacting accordingly.

It's a start, so I guess at that rate...you're right.

I wish EA would fire their dev team for NCAA and bring the team back that made NCAA 04-06 those were the bomb.

            WARNING: 06 comment ahead.

.... please, please, please.... just bring back the 06 game with the 2010 graphics. That is all I want. Formation subs, fcs, pre-game, coaches, refs, heisman ceremony, stat overlays, and atmosphere.... is it really asking for too much to have these in the game???

Even though none of us should HAVE to...I'd probably pay $100 myself for that game you just described. Sad, but true.

I'd also keep that game for a long, long time or until whenever something appreciably better than it across the boards would ever come out.

For old times sake I just played 06 for about tem minutes. Right off the bat... I have a pre-game with warm-ups, I see the coaches, I see the refs, I palyed against a REAL FCS school, I had formation subs, I had the screen shaking and the crowd going crazy, my players had skill and ability composure bublles and I could see the other teams as well AND there were great stat overlays (number of tackles, qb passing ratio to each side of the field, etc.). Man I love this game... it's too bad the graphics are so weak. P.S. the running backs don't turn on a dime... wow!

Geez the way you guys are describing 06 almost makes we want to go out and buy it. The only NCAA's I've bought are 08 and 10. I played 08 for a long time, not because it was a great game it was because I enjoy college football. 10 is much better than 08 tho.

IMO madden has produced a much better game each year. Haven't bought this year's version of Madden but am debating. I've always thought if you combine the game engine/graphics of madden with college football you'd have the perfect game (well maybe change the player progression a little). You'd think since both games are produced by EA they'd have the same/similar game engine, it'd be cheaper.

Seriously, it is a great game... it really made me fall in love with the series. I consider it the best version of NCAA football. If NCAA 11 can fix the glitches, add presentation, atmosphere, FCS, refs on the field, coaches, cut scenes, stat overlays, heisman ceremony, gatorade shower, the elite 11, the spring game, and formation subs... NCAA 11 will be a game for the ages.

Wow! I just re-read what I wrote. This is so sad. Look how far this series has dropped

Well compared to 10 how was the gameplay/recuiting/dynasty? Obviously the graphics in 06 won't be as good, but I don't care as much about that. I might just have to go out and buy 06 for $10 or however much it cost.

Please no. I don't want the deep ball too be easier to complete than a slant route or square in. No thanks in the gameplay department.

As for the other stuff (formation subs, coaches, refs, pre-game, etc), I hear you. Loud and clear!

The worst thing about this game is the lack of customization. They need to give us sliders for every attribute in the game. They need to give us sliders that work for every penalty. They need to give us options to play 15 minute quarter games in which the CPU will replicate the clock management of real life using an accelerated clock feature. They need to give us the tools to make the game exactly how each one of us users want to.

I cannot believe the amount of stuff taken out of the game or simply over looked in the next gen because of either the online gaming community or ignorance.

Programming doesn't work like that. You can't simply slap on new and shiny graphics on the same gameplay engine. All of the code is interwoven and works together. When they had to upgrade the graphics for this generation of systems, they had to build a new gameplay engine that works with the new graphics.

I disagree. I don't want to play NFL football and I don't like the way Madden plays. They just need to get rid of some of the people making decisions on the NCAA team.
