COULD IT BE??? The realistic diffulty level for madden...

I meandered over to the EA SPORTS forums (I know... I'm sorry, I won't do it again) and found this thread... Could it be that this actually works?

It says that the most realistic way to play madden is on pro, with all cpu skill sliders set to 100%. A TON of other people over there have tried it out and rave about it, saying it's the best thing ever "a challenging game w/o feeling like the cpu is cheating you".

Nope, will not happen. You can't get NO achievements on PRO. At least I'm not doing it, maybe once I get the full 1,000.

This is kind of the idea I was kicking around when the demo came out. I thought the defensive (user) ai was better on lower levels and was thinking maybe just adjusting the cpu sliders might still make it challenging. I'll have to actually give it a shot now.

Hmm, achievements OR a game that plays realistically...hard choice

Well I am testing this now, but I already don't play on the higher levels. I have been just doing the My Skill thing and have been having pretty competitive games, but probably should be a little harder as I am 5-1 in my 49ers franchise. So figured I would give this a try with a play now game. Am going to at least play the half, but so far not so good. Playing against Seattle right now and they haven't moved the ball on me at all so far on two series and I just scored my second TD of the first quarter and Shaun Hill just completed his first ten passes. I have yet to ever get ten passes in a row before this. Also keep in mind, I am not that great at the game which Is why I don't play on the hardest levels.

Will update this thread as I get further into my test.

All 100 includes 100 Pass reaction
I have already a pb with DB running routes before receivers on All-Pro (Pass reaction set at 50), so with Pass reaction at 100 !!!
                  Come on!

I'm looking for sim. Not unrealistic difficulty.
But i'm pretty sure passing is quite hard with CPU Pass reaction at 100.
And with User skill on Pro, QB will be too accurate.

So we'll get all QB playing like Peytons Manning throwing against DBs playing like Deion Sanders
Difficulty would be ok but not realistic IMO

Great point. Why don't you fire up your madden and see for yourself? Then come back here with your findings. That's what i'm gonna do tomorrow.

Re: COULD IT BE??? The realistic diffulty level for madden...

Well I have to say my game playing this way ended up pretty odd. I will say it was a fun game. While going through the first quarter I thought it was going to be a big joke like a lot of pro level games turn out to be. But things changed after I posted my last message. The game ended up being 35 - 32 49ers (me). Shaun Hill eneded up 28 of 42 for 446 yards, 4 TD's and 4 Int's, one returned for a TD.

The game got close after I went back to the game and was close the rest of the way with Seattle taking the lead at 32 - 28. I still didn't run the ball very well, only averaging 3.5 yards with Gore. Unfortunately this is more my norm or at least is what I am averaging with him in my franchise. I have a game where I will average in the 4's for yards per carry but many others where I struggle pretty bad.

Seattle side of things Hassleback had a good game with going 24 for 31 236 yards and 2 TD's and 0 Int's. However the computer couldn't run on me at all with Jones going 18 carries for 26 yards. In my franchise the CPU does pretty well running the ball especially with the good running backs in the game. Michael Turner and Adrian Peterson both had big days against me even though I was able to win those games.

I might try this again another time with using a great team against a crappy team so I can see how I do that way and going the other way with maybe using the 49ers again against I higher rated team than Seattle is. I did end up getting my closer game like I expected going into this after checking out that guys videos. But the passing at times seemed too easy and on 3 of those 4 Int's I threw seemed to be more superman like efforts than bad throws. Might be worth testing a few more games, but I have been having fun going with the My Skill level so far. Although I do need to find a sweet spot for my running game so will probably settle on a custom level soon.

seems too easy. I just tried it in a play now using the Raiders at Dallas (cpu). I marched up and down the field for 2 TD's on my first 2 drives and completed 10 passes in a row with Russell......WITH RUSSELL! And I was shutting them out 14-0 in the first qtr before I turned it off. I'll stick with my custom sliders

I actually like this setting. I have tweaked a couple of my pass rush difficulty and the CPU rush blocking skills and am finally able to get sacks. Now I haven't set it so I'm blowing opponents out and gettin a sack every time, but I am actually feeling like I can get one by working the stick (which I could not do before). In addition, I am seeing the separation between the receivers and defenders. Again, not everytime, but definitely when the DB is out of position. Finally, I can run the ball now. I'm not breaking off successive 30+ yard gains, but I can get some nice runs with proper blocking. There are a few tweaks you can make to the sliders to suit your skill/style. As has been said, most people's pride will not let them switch to Pro level. I was in that camp but these settings have made the game more fun for me so I'll stick with them.
