    Tackle stats...

I am playing a franchise with Seattle, and through four games my tackling stats look like this:

    Brandon Mebane

    18 solo tackles, 8 AST, 2 sacks

    Lofa Tatupu

    15 solo tackles, 11 AST

    Patrick Kerney

    12 solo tackles, 8 AST, 2 sacks

    Aaron Curry

    11 solo tackles, 17 AST, 1 sack, 1 INT

    Leroy Hill

    10 solo tackles, 12 AST

This is from top to bottom... So as it stands, my high tackler will end up with around 70 tackles. As it is, and if it continues on the pace it's on, I'll have some of my better defensive players with 50-60 tackles a piece and probably close to that many assisted tackles as well.

A guy like Aaron Curry is going to make a lot of tackles in this league and in this game, I find it nearly impossible to get a lot with him. My high game was Brandon Mebane with 7 tackles. Other players in the league, like Bart Scott and Jon Beason, are averaging 12-14 tackles per game. Looking at the league leaders, there's a big grip of guys who will end up with over 100, but as it is now, I won't have a guy who will sniff close to that.

I am not a complete stat junkie, but I've read in other posts how guys regress (like Patrick Willis) because the tackling numbers are so low, and I just don't want that to happen with my guys (especially a guy like Aaron Curry, who will only get better).

Eh, I think I liked the old tackling/stats better. It's too damn hard to get solo tackles in this game.

Any pointers/advice? This is kind of a big bummer for me.

Hopefully a patch addresses this if there's no way to make it more realistic.

15, with a 15 second runoff on the accelerated clock.

Played a game this morning and Curry had 3 tackles with 6 assists. The CPU ran 78 plays.

        Broken...

Tackle stats have always been low when playing the game but I think the problem is that the tackle assists are not being added to the overall total tackles

but im not 100% sure just guessing

              Re: Tackle stats...

There's another issue in that the tackle stats for the rest of the league are overblown. Basically, the sim numbers are tuned to resemble real NFL tackle stats, except for the fact that tackles aren't a real NFL stat.

I forget where it is, but somewhere there's an article talking about the fact that tackle statistics in the NFL are a joke because each team keeps their own. There are some absurd statistical anomalies, for example some teams having more than 1.5x as many "tackles" as they have total defensive plays.

The problem is that the in-game engine which does YOUR stats records tackles in a truthful manner, while the sim engine uses the absurd real-life NFL tackle stats as a guide.

Here's what I was talking about:

"The Indianapolis staff awarded 891 "solo" tackles in those 781 plays. Figure that one out."

turn down break block so you dont end up with d lineman racking up tackles
                  NFL- Bears
                  NBA- Bulls
                  MLB- Cubs
                  NHL- Blackhawks
                  Soccer- Eh

Good articles. IMO they should let the crew that sits in the box record tackles and then just review again on Mon/Tuesday and release official tackle numbers by Thurs. Oh well I've NEVER HAD a guy on Madden even be in the top 50 in tackles. Normally it's my safety leading my team with 50 some odd tackles

                      Re: Tackle stats...

If the game calculated the stats for tackles correctly, Curry would have 112 tackles by the end of the year if that is what he averaged the rest of the season. He actually has 28 tackles , not 17. Assisted count the same as solo.

That is the problem and it has been discussed ad nauseam on here since the game has been released . Hopefully EA picks up on that and its patched.
