It's not free, but Bowl Bound Football is a great game, with some great online leagues. It's made by Grey Dog Software.

TEW2005 was just made freeware by GDS. It's not as good as 2008 is, but it's still in the TEW family, so it's excellent.

That's the wrestling one right? Didn't know it was free now. I remember playing EWR a few years ago. That was an awesome game.

Anyone know any others? I'm looking for ones that have you managing a team and making trades, drafting, free agency that's in-depth. I'm tired of these bland franchise modes in Madden and NHL (NHL 10 looks like it's gonna have a nice GM mode though).

I want FOF badly but it isn't free as far as I know, same with NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007. Speaking of EHM 2007, can you buy that game in stores?

Yeah, it's a descendant of EWR. It was just released as freeware July 1st.

I downloaded TEW 2 days ago and man, that game is good. Good lookin' out on that one GIGGAS.

The 1st day I spent a good 5 hours booking matches and signing workers. I kept saying I'll just do this one last thing and then I'll take a break but I kept on going.

I wasn't sure if I would like it since I stopped following wrestling about 3 years ago but TEW gives me memories of the good ol' wresting days. All I need is a real world WWE mod or something like that. I did start a career with the made up game world though and I'm losing money like crazy with a small organization that I'm the head booker of.

Now I just need to find a good football text sim and I'm good. I just wish the good ones like FOF didn't cost money or they had an older version that was free cause I don't have a credit card to work with.

Funny how this thread is in the football forum and we're talking about a wrestling game, lol. I just didn't know where to put it since I'm looking for a text sim on any sport except baseball.

TEW 2008 is the game in which I've done so little yet wasted so much time. My general way to play is to create my own local fed in Mid-Atlantic and try to build up. It takes years... and is the most satisfying time ever.

2005 was great, don't get me wrong. But 2008 is way above 2005.

theres a free text sim called the UFL manager...you can customize it to your liking(to a certain extent) and its pretty good.
the only gripe i have about it is the ugly interface.
