Getting Sacks for D. Ware

Ok. I can finally get a few more sacks by adjusting the pass rush and blocking sliders to get some pressure but I still can't get sacks for Demarcus Ware? Can anyone suggest a specific defense or suggestions that will free him up more often?

Lay off the speed burst once you engage OL.

Push Down on the R stick when engaging the OL to do a dip/rip move. Be prepared for help to come and to shed that too.

Read the OL on playaction... you can pick up many sacks when you read it correctly.

Remain patient. Don't get all flustered when you get free, hit the speed burst at the wrong time and miss the opportunity. Be smooth about it and you'll find the most success.

Trying a pass rush move before actually being engaged with an OL seems to work best for me.

To get more sacks, you may have to dive at the qb once you're close enough. Kinda cheesy, but it works (warning: if you're even a little late, you'll get flagged for roughing, so be careful).

You'll have to search this forum, but awhile back some guy posted a suggestion: instead of controlling a pass rusher, control a lb or db. Move him around a bit before the snap. Once the ball snaps, do nothing for about 1 second, then move him around, defending your zone/man. For some reason, this increases the pass rush. It worked for me. (at least for everyone except Ware, lol).


IIRC, my max for sacks with Ware was 26 for the season, using a combo of the above.

Great idea. I did a fantasy draft and I drafted Julius Peppers so I could do this. I'd have him at OLB for 3-4 and Nickel and then DE for the rest. But EA has yet to get the 3-4 defense right. You see 3-4 CPU teams with their DE's getting 13 sacks. I recently had Ngata of the Ravens get 14 sacks in a season

I do not manually passrush, as I always play as Ken Hamlin, but.....

I'm on Week 12 of my Season, and Ware has 10 sacks with Ratliff and Spencer tied with 8 apiece.

Also, use the "OLB Swap" package in the 2-4-5 Nickel Defense. Putting Ware against RTs is just a crime in this game.

Yeah try using the the right stick for maneuvering Ware and use the dive button when you get close to the QB.

Well for whatever reason I seem to have more success blitzing Ware from the right side, i swap OLB's spencer and Ware. I usually just push straight down and never touch the gimmick stick cause that just locks you up in a wrestling match with the O-lineman. Ware usually bowls right over little halfbacks that stay in to block,, and yes, hitting dive just before contact helps launch Ware into the QB, sometimes causing fumbles! Ive managed 3 sacks in one game but it takes patience. Remember 1 sack a game would equal 16 for a season and that aint nothing to sneeze at!

Richard Seymour had 8 sacks last year as a 3-4 DE. I get what you're saying, because its obvious the 3-4 is broken, but it isn't unheard of for a DE to get sacks in a 3-4
