Hall of Fame Stockton, Sloan, MJ

Did you see who these guys were going to have present them into the hall of fame?

    Sloan - Chuckster
    Stockton- Isiah Thomas
    MJ - David Thompson

Strange picks not? I am fascinated by Stockton picking Isiah. This almost confims Isiah isn't quite as bad as the media, specifically New York media, made him out to be.

    Interesting stuff,

Utah’s independent news source since 1871, The Salt Lake Tribune covers news, entertainment, sports and faith for Salt Lake City and the state of Utah.

Isiah is like anyone else. He's a flawed man. He's got some good parts and some bad parts. No more or less than any other player.

I think it has to be a hall of famer that presents them. They also can pick from any hall of famer. I read that MJ picked Daivd Thompson because he was his guy as a kid ,as MJ was for many of us.

Isn't David Robinson entering the HOF this week too?

I find if crazy that reports are saying he's not even the best Spurs player.

He was better offensively and defensively than Tim Duncan and apart from 1 season, he was always much fitter and healthier.

            As under-rated as ever.

He wasn't underrated. His offensive game wasn't as terrific as the stats suggest. He had semi convincing pump fakes, could drive the middle lane to unleash a lefty hook, and could make jumpers in the box. No drop steps, duck unders, elbow leads to create space, or fades. He was terrific at coming from the weak side to swat shots away but he couldn't guard his man straight up and burly pivots had their way with him more times than not. He was a finesse rebounder who wasn't mean spirited enough to come down with tough rebounds in a crowd. He couldn't pass a lick and he choked away many playoff games before Duncan arrived.
Indeed, it was Duncan who was the driving force behind the Spurs championships.

Firstly... Robinson didn't have a left hook.

Secondly, he didn't need most of those moves you mentioned as his post jumper and speed past defenders for dunks/layups were money.

Thirdly, he WAS a tough rebounder. You are following the 'casual fan' bandwagon that wrongly thought he was soft.

Likewise with the choking you mention.

Lastly, Duncan had Parker and Ginobili most of his career - Robinson had Del Negro and Avery Johnson. Night and day.

LOL I could have sworn Bucher posted this thread since he left David Robinson out of the title.

Also, Sloan picks Barkley? WTF am I missing here.. literally had me with the "WTF" face.

Yeah I still don't understand that one.

                    Perhaps because they're both brawlers?

David Robinson can't hold Tim Duncan's jock.

When I think of the phrase 'pure point guard' I think of John Stockton. It was a pleasure to watch that dude play. One of the realest to ever do it.

Yeah, Jordan was cool too I guess. He obviously deserves to be in the hall, but Stockton is my favorite in this class.

His jumper from the paint area was solid and he could get around defenders with his assortment of head fakes. I don't think he was a tough rebounder since he usually got pushed around in a crowd. David was a big time choker when he was the go to guy. Missed free throws in the playoffs. Very good player though.
