do i need 'live' to download a patch or does the game patch on its own? i know it is a newbie question but if anyone can let me know, i would appreciate it. i searched the forum so sorry if there is a thread already.

It will patch on its own, provided you're hooked up to the internet and have at least X-Box Live silver.

so there is no way to get patches without live? damn, $50 bucks for live to get a patched game!

Yeah, it's 50 bucks, but that's for a whole year.

Plus, you can play this and other games online and get early access to demos, etc. It is worth it.

Xbox Live Silver is free. You needn't spend a dime to patch.

You can get patches if you're on Silver, which is free.

Just connect your 360 to the internet with an ethernet cable or wireless adapter and then follow these instructions:
