Do you feel this game is actually 'finished'?

I have madden at the moment but im seriously thinking of trading it in for nhl 10. However, as with all these types of new releases, i hope the game is actually playable and doesnt have a host of bugs and glitches that need fixing. I usually play online but for nhl id actually be interested in playing an franchise offline. Franchise in madden is rubbish. Any thoughts? thanks

!st..Hold off on trading madden. Patches are scheduled VERY soon to fix issues.

BUY NHL10....If you like 09...Then yoiu will love 10. I cannot find the issues of 09 and it is a better more tuned version. You wont be disappointed.

Bugs and glitches will always take time to uncover. As for initial impressions -- it feels as finished and polished as NHL 09 and EA's FIFA series (unlike Madden ever feels).

Hi im bumping this thread back up just to ask a couple more questions.Probably noob ones..but anyway

My xbox live runs out tomorrow. Im almost certain to take madden back and get nhl. If i start an nhl franchise could i download a roster update without xbox live?

Also are things like franchise stats ect working? i.e i heard that pass completion percentage is off or something??

Finally, if i decide to start on all star level-do you suggest tweeking any sliders? are there any you feel is a must? thanks for any help !

For Xbox, you have to have Gold to get the Roster Updates. Franchise Stats are fine, it's the Cpu Trade Logic that is out of whack. Lots of trades, many that would never happen. You can turn the Cpu trades off however. Yes I would suggest tweaking sliders, but try Flyermania's(located in the Slider Forums). If nothing else it will be a good base to work from.

But I just think a patch or two can fine tune cpu sliders having more of a effect like human ones do all will be perfect:wink:

I'm going to be picking up NHL 10 soon, are their any current plans to release a plan to fix any CPU trade logic issues, or other general issues?

I don't know about CPU trade logic specifically (not my area) but a title update is being worked on. This is a fairly lengthy process, taking a number of weeks to create, test and get approvals from Microsoft and Sony. We will also be making tuning updates as required to address issues in gameplay balance and these can be turned around fairly quickly, the first one actually came out the day the game shipped, addressing some feedback from the demo and the next one should be out in the coming week.

Hey Redshirt, is there anywhere you can go to get information on what was adjusted in the tuning updates? I think it is a great idea to be able to switch between them, but without knowing which version does what to the gameplay, it can be a little hit or miss trying to know which version you prefer. Thx!

Yeah, I've got it on my todo list to put out a description of the differences between V1.00 (demo basically) and V1.01 (updates from the demo). I'll probably have that ready along with the notes for the next version when the next version comes out.

FWIW, we probably shouldn't have bothered to leave V1.00 around, since I don't think it is very likely anyone wouldn't want the changes that were made for V1.01.

Thx Redshirt! Knowing the list of changes will definitely make life easier when trying to figure out if you need to do any tweaking to your slider sets. And thx for the quick reply!

While it wouldn't matter to me personally (I use V.1.01) this is the kind of logic that often gets developers in hot water with some fans. I can guarantee there are some players who started with v1.00 and got it turned just they way they liked. To force them to switch now would be a bad call.

One of the things I thought was REALLY great was that these tuner updates could be applied or ignored as the user wished. I can't tell you how many times I've found a great balance in a sports game only to have an update come along and "ruin" it for me. Don't get me wrong, updates are fantastic, but the option to stick with what's working is a great feature of NHL 10 right now. That being said, if it's no different to the dev team I'd keep as many Tuner updates available as possible.

Also, any chance the passing is addressed in a tuner update? Even with CPU passing accuracy at zero they still seem to be able to fire ridiculous numbers of tape-to-tape passes in the offensive zone, which makes playing D a nightmare.

Any chance we could get a sneak preview/broad sense of direction of what's being "tuned" for tuner set V1.02? Not specific notes, maybe a hint or two?
