How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
in both situations everytime i throw these routes my receiver tries to catch the ball over his shoulder facing the direction he shouldnt. for example i throw a fade route for a jump ball to my #1 receiver on the right side why does he try to catch the ball over his shoulder facing the right sideline? this gives the receiver almost no chance to catch the ball unless it gets tipped and you get lucky. any advice? has anyone been successful throwing a jump ball near the goal line?Tags: None -
Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
Unfortunately with Madden's outdated throwing system, chucking up a jump ball in the back corner of the endzone is almost impossible.
Sorry dude, better luck next year I guess -
Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
Sadly no you cannot do this along with a plethora of things you cant do in madden, they really need to step their game up next year, blocking, pro-tak, catching, throwing are all broken aspects it is hard to keep a game playing for me.Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
In their attempt to try and stunt the effectiveness of the Rocket Catch, they have limited the ability of the WR to make a play on the ball.
Good intention, but it has affected the game negatively in other areas. This being a good example."You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."Comment

All they had to do was not allow the user to break off the reciever's route. Instead, they do this.Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
I don't think that is the answer either. I don't see anything inherently wrong with the user being able to switch control to another player. What they should have done is implement a better physics and locomotion system and that would have solved the problem completely.
If you allow players to change direction without much or any deceleration, foot plating, and regathering, then you allow things like Rocket Catches to happen.
I've said this many times. Fix the physics and locomotion systems to be closer representations of real world movements, and MANY of the glitches and cheeses that you see will correct themselves without having to take out features or hamper user control."You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
its possible but hard because:
A) Deep Zones are broken and the DB can backpedal forever against any speed
B) passing system makes you throw it to a reciver and not to an area
what you can to against man coverage is wait until the reciever is 20 yards down field and throw a high bullet, this should get u a jump ball.Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
I almost never throw soft throws because the CPU reaction time is way too high and as the ball is sailing my receiver is suddenly covered by 3 guys.
The only way I do it successfully is if I float it down field and get a speedster like Hester, switch to him, then sprint past the coverage.
As for goal line floaters, so tough. Seems like the ball is ALWAYS throw out of bounds.Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
I disagree. This is the issue. Since you already have the advantage of the "god view" you already know when the ball is released, where it is aimed and where your receiver is in relation to the defender. All of this is possible despite the receiver looking the other way. How is any AI supposed to counter that?
Let the user determine the timing and type of jump. Don't let the user break off the route. I agree, there is a lot of physics issues involved there, but the foundation of the problem is that you are putting eyes in the back of the receivers head. Fix that first.Comment

ugh..everyone already beat me to it.
there is no Downfield passing outside of the hashes in this game, ither then "Hope spectacular catch rating kicks in"Comment

I understand where you are coming from, but you are missing one thing that does happen in real life that would mimic what you are talking about. The WR and the QB being in sync.I disagree. This is the issue. Since you already have the advantage of the "god view" you already know when the ball is released, where it is aimed and where your receiver is in relation to the defender. All of this is possible despite the receiver looking the other way. How is any AI supposed to counter that?

This is done all the time. Many QBs and WRs have adjustments based on reads. If a WR is on a Go, but the DB is playing over the top, the route could change to where the QB throws it short intentionally. If the DB is playing over the top and has inside position, this might be a time for a back shoulder fade. Does the WR have to look at the QB to know that this is coming? No. They work on it in practice to the point that they read the play the same way.
Taking control of the receiver is not the problem. In real life, routes don't work to perfection all the time. Receivers get covered and the QB throws the pass anyway. He just throws it in a spot that is away from the defender but will allow the WR to adjust to go get it.
I don't see why a receiver in the game should have to stick to the route no matter where the pass is thrown. That isn't realistic. A receiver will make an adjustment on the ball as long as it is physically possible for him, given the situation and his athletic ability, to do so. Again, if the game is developed to take momentum, deceleration, weight, balance, foot planting, and regathering into consideration, and in a realistic fashion, then this would fix the issue.
User control is not the problem. With realistic locomotion, a receiver will not be able to get to any balls that he would not be able to in real life, whether the user or the AI is in control. That is the answer."You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
Well said. The answer to gameplay issues is always physics.Billy ****ing Kundiff (K) and Jacob Richardson (P) are elite offensive linemen. WTF?!?! Billy Kundiff actually is quite possibly the best player in the NFL. He has not only blocked amazingly, but he has kicked every extra point and he even caught a ****ing TD!Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
I can still RC just about every play and so can other players...Their attempt to take it out of the game has failed. I can also catch fades easily in the endzone...It just takes practice.Comment

Re: How do i throw a fade route/jump ball or deep ball?
I never said that they did or did not succeed in taking the RC out of the game. I am just saying that that is what they attempted to do when they decided to limit a receivers ability to go after the ball."You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling."Comment

GOALINE FADE ROUTE -- Not Impossible
Call a quick slant to the outside. If your receiver is on the right, hot route a quick slant to the right and he will sprint for the corner of the endzone. Wait for him to break and loft it to his outside shoulder. Depending on your receiver he'll catch it over the shoulder or jump up and spin around to catch it.
It doesn't work 100 percent of the time but I have made it work on the goal line. Just make sure that there's no safety help, which there usually isn't on goal line situations and you should be good to go."A man can only be beaten in two ways: if he gives up, or if he dies."Comment
