Recently, I bought my son NHL 10 by ea, and I cannot believe how incredible the game looks and plays and is compared to Madden. Players look real, fluidity when they skate and physics all there. However I am a football fan and could really give a f**k about hockey playing it on the 360, I do hold animosity and admiration for what the hockey group at EA has accomplished. And not saying Madden is all that bad, just the hockey game looks and plays so dam!n great and is overall a whole lot better…

If you southern guys have not even played or heard about the hockey game ea did, you should do your self a favor, rent it and you will see for your self. Its like comparing basketball 2K9 with MLB 2k9. we all know which one was more of a success.

Hopefully next year madden will fix the small things like the hb swing passes qb pressure etc…

It's true. Not a big hockey fan here but NHL 10 is easily the best sports game I have ever played. I'm hoping that FIFA 10 can live up to that bar too (09 was incredible). It's amazing to see how the EA umbrella can encompass the great (NHL, FIFA) and not so great (Madden, Live).

If I remember correctly, NHL and Madden are made by two different EA production bases. You can't compare between two different sets of designers...It's like comparing Aerosmith to Panic at the Disco. You have the argument that they both play music, but two totally different genres and eras.

I agree with this to a point, but also expect a large company like EA to afford the opportunity for different developers under their umbrella to be able to share thoughts, resources and discoveries.

The do share thoughts but what works in one engine may not work for the other engine, and there are probably more in depth reasons why the full NHL engine won't work for a football game and vice versa. This is what we got with Madden, we need to appreciate what they provide for us now and we know that they are doing the best they can with what they have to work with. Most issues will be solved by patch 2.

You will get your money's worth by the end of the NFL season, it's not EA's fault if your attention span is minimal that you can't be patient for the great things to come.

I'm really starting to feel like 'patch' is becoming a crutch and a bad word. The thing with NHL and FIFA is that they're sick OUT OF THE BOX. No need to wait two months to get the game you were hoping for when you first purchased it.

First, I like madden 10 ; it could be a lot better( more fleshed out franchise mode), but I'm enjoying the game. Second, I don't have to appreciate EA for anything. EA hasn't given me anything; I bought madden 10, it wasn't a gift. People are allowed to voice their opinions about a product that they've paid for. What I would appreciate is for EA to give me a choice. As a consumer, deserve to have the best product that can be created. Take Two in all likely hood is capable of making a better football game ; as a consumer I deserve the oppurtunity to purchase it.

Do you play the games for instant one time gratification or for the longevity of season and replay ability. When I buy game I makes sure that the game will have replay value, not only after the first weeks but 9 months down the road. 9 months down the road the game will be better due to EA fixing the mistakes. Football is the toughest simulation sports game due to 22 people have to be on the field at the same time. Not 12 like in hockey or 10 like in basketball. Give EA a break, it's a tough job making a video game for football.

Yep...EA got my money this year. For NHL'10', but not Madden.

Not meaning to pile on too much. But at this point...yeah, I prefer NHL.
