Is 2k basketball doomed this year?

I just finished watching the gameplay video of nba 2k10 on youtube and I am not impressed by what I saw. NBA Live 10 seems to be superior in terms of graphics(this has been the case for at least the last three years), presentation, and GAMEPLAY! The Live demo had the feeling of an actual NBA broadcast. 2k has always set the standard as far as gameplay but they are still using the same player models from the ps2/xbox era. The only difference is that SOME facial likenesses are excellent. NBA Live 06 for the Xbox 360 was the first truly next-gen looking basketball game. The gameplay was horrible but EA sports introduced an entirely new graphical engine that has been utilized beautifully in NBA Live 10. The player models are truly stunning. I've been playing both the 2k and Live series since the beginning. I love them both but I always have said that if NBA Live ever got the gameplay up to par with the graphics, then 2k would be in trouble. They seem to have done that this year. 2k10 looks like 2k 9.5......the same look and animations. 2k9 was an awesome game but for the consumer's hard earned cash we deserve more than just a roster update and a few minor additions. I was truly blown away by the Live demo but the gameplay video of 2k10 is underwhelming to say the least. I have already pre-paid for the 2k10 $99 anniversary edtion as well as NBA live 10. I truly believe that this is the year that LIVE reclaims it's title as the best basketball simulation on the planet.

I don't think Live 10 graphics are good everybody looks shiny and light skin

Wall of Text. I didn't read it all.

I'm going 2K all the way. I just tried the Live demo and it's totally broken when you play Player-lock. Something tells me they won't completely fix it. I posted my impressions in the Live thread.

Let me just say this...every year I look into both games. Fortunately for me, I don't have to look at Live very long. It's just broken year after year. I don't know what kind of people play that game, but there is no way I could play it. TV Sports Basketball 20 years ago played better for me than NBA Live has for the past 10 years.

I'm so happy now with the direction 2K has gone this year. Player lock is beatiful. My Player is the best thing to happen to sports games. I'm sure I'll be able to ask for more when the release comes, but as it stands, 2K has everything I could currently want in a sports game. Oh, did I mention it's on PC now too? Yeah, I'd say more like Live is going to be doomed.
