Shawne Merriman or Ernie Sims?

In my Cardinals franchise I would like to trade for a talented ROLB, I've narrowed it down to Merriman or Sims. I'm running a 3-4 and bringing Merriman off the edge would be great for getting to the QB. Sims can rush a little but he's better as a cover LB. Who would you prefer?

Ernie easy bro. Hes got the speed to cause havoc on a good defense but im not too sure if hes a 3-4 linebacker. Hes kinda small compared to merriman.

On second thought go Merriman and have him play DE from time to time.

Hmm...

Merriman has insane PMV and FMV ratings. Mid to upper 90s? Geez.

85 SPD, 93 ACC. Geez again.

Sims has 88 SPD, 93 ACC, but only 80's PMV and FMV.

They both have insane PUR. Both are pretty mediocre in AWR (though Merriman is significantly better).

Both are young.

Merriman has 90 BSH. Sims needs work in this area, only 79.

Depends on what assignments you want to give him. If you want pass coverage, Sims seems like the better choice, especially once his AWR goes up. Merriman is a pure pass rusher. Insanely high moves and block shedding with the quickness to get off the snap and take the edge.

Merriman also seems more likely to stuff runs in the backfield. Sims would be better used tracking them down if they break the LOS. Sending him into the fray will get him lost in the wash at the LOS more often than not it would seem.

Good analysis, I ended up going to Merriman... he'll live if I need to drop him into zone coverage every once in a while.

If you want a guy who is about football without the hype, then Sims. If you want a guy who is about himself and super hyped up, then Tela Merriman Nguyen would be your guy. Although if you get Hypeman, then, I hear they give you a lifetime supply of 'roids and all the dirtiest hoos your team could want. Of course, then you would have to spring for the world class trainer package, but, small price to pay for all of those relaxation therapists he will have in leiu of actually playing.
