88 is kinda high. It took Steve Smith NYG becoming the leader in catches yards and tds before they gave him a decent rating.

If anything you should change it yourself man

It took weeks for EA to make Brett Favre an 85 from an 82. I think an 85 is more than fair for Benson.

Nah Benson needs to be boosted up at least 2 OVR with at least 86SPD. Do it yourself and shake off the haters!

everybody is saying how he shouldnt be rated that high but what are your reasons?

its not because hes behind a great offensive line they were terrible last year and are super young this year, hes averaging like 4.5-4.6 yards a carry, he breaks tackles, he out runs defenders (steelers game and ravens game), he leads the entire nfl in rushing, he has been carrying the team on his back at one point in time sunday 17 of the 22 plays ran were to him

the only thing he doesnt do great is catch out of the backfield

and ill throw this out there out of the 5 teams he has played 3 of those teams were in the top 6 in run stopping and one of those teams havent given up a 100 yard rusher in 40 games till he broke that streak

and its not just this year last year when he played with the bengals he avergaed 4.4 yards a carry in like 9 games

Cedric Benson

GRADE: 63.

Benson is a four-year player who joined the Bengals after his release from Chicago. He's a former first-round pick with good size, strength and acceleration. He is effective when he runs behind his pads and attacks the line of scrimmage. He has good foot quickness to make subtle cuts and hit a crease with acceleration. He has adequate speed to the outside and can lower his shoulder for a strong finish at the end of runs. He lacks long speed to run away from defenders once in space. Benson doesn't show great vision or creativity when dealing with congestion. He's not overly elusive to make multiple cuts and he's at his best making one cut and getting his shoulders squared up field. As a receiver, Benson has good hands out of the backfield. He's not overly dynamic in space, but he can get north-and-south quickly after the catch. Benson is better suited to be a backup because he lacks consistency.

So are we basing Madden ratings on what a player did 3 years ago or what a player has done this year? Just wondering man? And I'm guessing that "Grade: 63" was decided before this season or sometime last season. If you go back to the last few games of last season Benson ran very well, followed by a great start this season. Just a fyi guys don't make it to the NFL by not having any talent and a 63 grade for a guy that leads the league in rushing after week 5 would have to be given by a ******!

Idk about an 88 ovr but definitely agree he should be mid 80's after running well on two of the stingiest defenses in the league!!!

PS. Benson is averaging 105.25yds in his last 8 regular season games if you call that inconsistent and nothing more than a career back up! Just saying.....

He's slow as crap and never breaks the first tackle....I painfully had to watch 30 something games of him attempting to run the ball in Chicago. He was picked fourth overall, held out for thirty something days as a rookie to get a fat contract for never playing a NFL snap...his fat contract is the sole reason he was handed a starting job (he never earned it) and the reason Thomas Jones was shipped outta town to go lead the league in rushing the following year with the Jets. Once he had the starting job he never earned the respect of the O line and they refused to block for him.

The he gets arrested for drunk boating and 30 days later gets arrested for drunk driving. If he would've gotten arrested in an airplane he would've received the triple crown ( have land, water, air arrests under his belt). We finally have enough of his continued failures and cut him (all the while witnessing another good season for Thomas Jones). He rolls up to Cincy and ends the year with decent numbers. Now this year he's apparently running like Emmit Smith or something (over 100 yards rushing on Baltimore? no one does that). I'm not happy. Not happy at all. Thanks bud.

Seriously though, maybe him getting cut was the wake up call he needed to turn things around...which is better than some of these guys who prefer to waste their talent (Pacman Jones comes to mind). If he can maintain success in Cincy with his newfound 88 speed and a new leaf than more power to him. Looks like he learned something the second time around...

again everybody keeps saying he shouldnt be this high but whats your reasoning why shouldnt a guy thats leading the nfl in rushing averaging 4.6 yards a carry be at least an 88

(i know its only 5 games but last year when he played he was good to) and he shouldnt have been a 79 comin into this season

IMO benson shouldn't be any higher than an 82 or 83 overall...i would suggest that EA boost his agility and accelaration ratings way up to about 97 for both and leave his speed where it is because he's not fast at all and hes not even really good at breaking tackles so hes not elusive. At best i could see maybe raising his trucking rating but thats about it

This isn't just an "over-achieving" season for Benson. Take a look at the numbers he put up in the games he did see time last season. His numbers this year are consistant with how be peformed the 2nd half of the season when he saw consistant carries.

Benson simply was irresponsible and did not fit well in the Bear's office scheme. I think 85-87 is where Benson should be sitting right now.
