    What are your Association plans?

For those of you that like to play Association I'm curious as to what you're going to be doing...

    1. What team are you going to be?
    2. What's your starting lineup going to be?
    3. Any trades you are going to make?
    4. Who are you going to train every month? (assuming it gets fixed)

    For me...
    1. My official Association will probably be with the Warriors.
    2. I know Curry will start at PG and Randolph at SF but trades will change the rest of my lineup.
    3. Jackson and Ellis are most likely gone.
    4. Definitely Anthony Randolph's shooting... make him unstoppable.

Re: What are your Association plans?

    1. Houston Rockets
    2. Yao/Scola/Ariza/McGrady/Brooks
    3. Traded Shane Battier for Minnestoa's 1st round pick
    4. Brooks (offense) and Scola (defense)

My long term plan (2010 off-season) is to get Kevin Durant to Houston along with one of the following big men to back-up Yao in Free Agency: Shaq, Big Z, Big Ben, Camby, Jermaine O'Neal.

I've simmed ahead to see if it is do-able, and it definately is (by trading to get the 1st round pick in the draft and then trading him for Durant). I have gone into 2010 with a starting Line-Up of...

    Brooks
    Ariza
    Durant
    Scola
    Yao

McGrady (6th man backing up the 2 and 3)
Big Ben (6th man backing up the 4 and 5)
    Lowry (back-up point)
Budinger (small minutes at the 2-3)
Landry (small minutes at the 4-5)
    Dorsey
    Taylor

I then simmed to the 2011 offseason to see if I could re-sign BOTH Durant and Yao (2011 free agents). Due to Bird Rights, it's possible, but it puts you in salary cap hell for a looong time. Still... who cares when you have Durant and Yao as your cornerstones!

That's the long term plan... right now, I am still in 2009 and am a struggling 8-7 team.

Re: What are your Association plans?

I'll be running with the 76ers

        PG - Lou Williams
        SG - Andre Iggy
        SF - Thaddeus Young
        PF - Elton Brand
        C - Sam Dalembert

I will immediately put Dalembert on the trade block for another center and/or draft pick. If I trade him for picks, then I'll move Speights into the starting line up and give Jason Smith a chance to play some as a back up.

        Phillies

          1. Knicks are my team
          2. Right now its Duhon, Hughes, Chandler, Harrington, and Lee starting
          3. I just traded Eddy Curry for Kyle Weaver for some youth and depth at the SG spot and because Oklahoma City needs a bigman so it seemed realistic. I may trade for McGrady for the star power and if he resigns for cheap I can bring in another good free agent with him
          4. Im going to train Jordan Hill and Wilson Chandler

T-Mac is a steal. In 2010 I can always get him for a 3+1 (team option) for around 19 million (around 6 million a year) and when you re-up his contract, he agrees to come off the bench as a 6th man. Not only that, but the guy can still put up 25-30 points on a given night.

I am playing with the bulls and i am currently 1-3.. my plans are possibly sign a big name in the offseason, and draft a good small forward in the draft....Deng is not getting it done for me...i am looking at the possibility of trading him. I need more depth at shooting guards...still looking at the possibilities there.

              current lineup
              Rose
              Salmons

I started one using the Nets but I deleted it until the patch comes out.

                My starting five:

                Devin Harris
                Terrence Williams
                Yi Jianlian
                Courtney Lee
                Brook Lopez

Looking to package some players for a backup PG and a younger more versatile backup SF.

                  3. Eddy Curry and would like to make some room to take a shot at some of the top free agents after season. Especially if Lebron is there.

                  4. Toney Douglas & Jordan Hill
                  DENVER BRONCOS (8-4)

Not a fan of any team really... I'll either run as the Cavs, Mavs or one of the worse teams in the game.

I'll probably only get through one season, so I might go with a team that's good enough to win it all. IE Cavs.

Re: What are your Association plans?

I'm doing a 2 team Association, Twolves and Warriors.

With the Warriors I traded Speedy Claxton for Nenad Krstic. Speedy is an Expiring Deal(about 6 Mil). And Krstic has a polayer option(So I figured OKC would be happy to have more money coming off the cap next year). Krstic won't get a lot of minutes, but provides another big for facing teams when we need to slow it down a bit and defend good post players. Speedy's expiring does no good to us, since we won't have space anyways.(In real life his deal might be worth more to a team that wants expirings, but I kept it to a minimum). I also traded Brandon Wright to the Blazers for a 1st Round Pick. The Blazers are built to win, they will still have cap space to sign a FA, plus get a palyer ready to contribute in Wright(I now have a piece to help my offseason, as FA probably won't be in my plans).

                      Starting Lineup-
                      PG-Monta Ellis
                      SG-Kelena Azuibuke
                      SF-Stephen Jackson
                      PF-Ronny Turfiaf
                      C-Andris Biedrins
                      6th-Corey Maggette
                      B-Stephen Curry
                      B-Anthony Randolph
                      B-C.J. Watson
                      B-Anthony Morrow
                      B-Nedad Krstic
                      B-Acie Law

I start Azuibuke a Turiaf for Defense and toughness, plus I like the fire power off the bench in Maggette, Curry, Randolph.

The off-season I will probably look for a post Big in the draft and BAP with my 2 picks.

Definately hoping Randolph improves quite a bit and can take over at SF/PF in the starting lineup soon.

                      With The Wolves-
All I did was get the Charlotte Pick(since they actually have it) and gave my next years 1st to the Clippers, since they will be owed it. (I just left the Jazz pick that is owed alone).

                      Starting Lineup-
                      PG-Ramon Sessions
                      SG-Corey Brewer
                      Sf-Ryan Gomes
                      PF-Kevin Love
                      C-Al Jefferson
                      6th-Johnny Flynn
                      B-Ryan Hollins
                      B-Damien Wilkins
                      B-Wayne Ellington
                      B-Antonio Daniels
                      B-Sasha Pavlovic
                      B-Brian Cardinal

I may look to make a deal in the season giving up expirings for a player(I know technically the game probably doesn't recognize expiring contracts as important to other teams, so we will see about this). Otherwise I will just look to the off-season where I should have a top 10 pick and another top 20 pick. Plus 12-15 million in free cap space to use on hopefully a scoring wing.

Really looking forward to a backcourt of Flynn/Sessions, excellent speed and passing. Flynn should be able to get to the rim at will.

P.S.-To the guy doing a Rockets association, realistically The Wolves would never give up there 1st Rounder this year for Battier(Technically they can't cause it would be owed to the Clippers, but that's a whole different issue), Battier would just add cap space to next years FA run, plus their pick should be around 4-7 range. Way to high for Battier, but alas this why we play the game, to have fun and do what we want. Enjoy

Honestly can a mod just sticky this so we don't have 20 of them?

I am a fan of reading about what people do in their Association, but not a fan of having 20 different threads.

Yeah, the trade was a little more complicated than Battier for a 1st rounder. I posted this in the "Rate My Trade" thread.

I did a 3-way trade with the Wolves and Thunder...

Rockets receive 2010 1st round pick (MIN)
[Give up Shane Battier, Brevin Knight (sign and trade), 2011 1st round pick]

Timberwolves receive Brevin Knight (HOU), B.J. Mullens (OKC), 2010 1st round pick (OKC), 2011 1st round pick (HOU), 2010 & 2011 second round picks (OKC)
[Give up Ramon Sessions, 2010 1st Round pick]

Thunder receive Ramon Sessions (MIN), Shane Battier (HOU),
                          [Give up B.J. Mullins 2010 1st round pick, 2010 & 2011 second round picks]

Re: What are your Association plans?

I want to say I could see that trade, but Minnesota gets ripped off and Houston/OKC reap the benefits.

Why would Minnesota give up a top 5-10 pick for a 15-20 pick and your probable 20+ pick next year?

They get a 40-year old PG & a project at center.

They give up a PG in his prime

                            Houston/OKC GM's are happy
                            Fans in Minnesota are irate

                            My .02

Teams get ripped off IRL anyways so it is kinda realistic. But if I were the MIN GM I would shoot you down.

The important thing is that the trades help the teams in the game, not real life. So for example, you can send a team that is under budget large contracts for small/expiring ones as long as it makes the CPU team better. I sent the Grizz Tim Thomas and Shawne Williams for DeMare Carroll because it helps them right now and allows me to stash away a player for the future. Carroll is definitely a better prospect, but Williams and Thomas are better overall players.

That's my perspective -- I don't ever make trades because I assume the CPU team is looking to shed salary, since the game rarely takes that into account. It would be nice if they did, though.
