Spectacular catches, or the lack thereof

What's the point of having a rating just for this if we never see these kind of catches. I see the same animations every game, only about 5 of them, yet when you go to practice mode with only the offense you can spawn several animations you've never seen in a game. Seeing the same animations really gets old not to mention that the elite WR's who do make some incredible catches in real life NEVER do this is the game even though there are animations to hold it true, and ratings too!

I guess my only question to your guys is do yall see more of these spec catches on lower difficulties? I use DB's sliders, slightly tweaked, below All-Madden.

Never see them either...There's that one play that happens a lot in practice where a receiver will bobble it in the air and then catch it. That happened ONCE in a game with Mario Manningham for me, but that's about it.

There is that one animation where you lead pass too far and the guy one hands it and rolls on the ground, then tries to get up.
I give EA positive points for that animation.

I am pretty sure that spectacular catch leads WRs to be more aware of the sideline. When I use Jackson and Moss on my team, Moss(99 spec catch) will always, if not most of the time, plant his feet in bounds and make outstanding catches along the sideline. Jackson on the other hand(70-80 something spec catch) will struggle to keep his feet in bounds on similar catches.

This is a major part of the pass game that Ian needs to consider fixing. I stated earlier that since they have wrap swats, hit sticks, and the unrealistic DB coverage and movement they should unlock the Spectacular catch animations to the user for all-pro and all-madden.

Its really unfair when you lob up a deep ball to your star WR and the user controlled defense turns into a defender holds the strafe button to square his shoulders to the ball and jumps higher than any other WR in the game to INT your pass.

The passing is very stale because of bad coverage and boring catch animations. Please unlock this Ian.

I've seen the David Tyree catch animation a few times. I'd say that's pretty darn spectacular.

                It looks absolutely perfect too.

Better then in 08 where every other catch was a ridiculous spectacular catch.

Would upping the user WR catching to 100 make these animations more frequent?

                      Sanchez to Braylon

25 QB ACC and 45 CTH...

He's made a couple for me in a handful of games already...

I think it depends on the guy, EA always has favorites...

The point was to make the game sim and get rid of the arcade animations and insane catches that were all too often in the previous games. A spectacular catch is just that because it doesn't happen very often. If it did, then it would dimply be a normal catch that looks really cool the first five times, then gets really old... Thus far I've seen enough to suit my needs, from diving one handers to the bobble catch... I see them maybe once a game if I'm using an insane WR like Fitz, Andre Johnson, Randy Moss, etc... Other then that, it shouldn't happen more then that... That's what NFL Street is for.

This is something Ian and his crew will be working on for madden11. But I wheather see these current problems with the game fix now and worry about the other things latter on down the road to tell you the truth.

I agree but I've only seen the Tyree catch once and that's the only spec catch I've seen since release day and I play everday. :/

I hope this will be fixed in patch 2 if not at least perfected for madden 11. They have the animations and controls to do this. It's just a matter of tweaking. If the spc catch is to unstoppable than tweak the chance of catching or upgrade the chance of the defender doing a wrap swat or big hit. If my WR can't strafe or spc catch than neither should the defense. This is a huge disadvantage on offense once again its about speed for the WR except for crossing, post, or double move routes.

It seems like a simple fix but it seems that if something is a exploit in there game they seem to take it out instead of tweaking or fixing.

One other problem I have is the DB's back pedal faster than my WR is running forward.

No one should be single coverage on a WR for the deep ball the whole game. This would be huge Ian and co if you can add/fix this.
