Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
When the game first came out, I was proclaiming this as one of the best basketball games out. Online, it was all simulation. When that happens, I can beat a lot of people, because my basketball IQ is high. I was about 11-2. I'm not here to brag. Not even the end of the month, and I am now 13-10. All there is, is cheesers. Step backs galore. Does anyone play on ball defense anymore? It is getting ridiculous. Still no fatigue, so I have to play LBJ or Melo all game at 100% energy. I have BJ Millians (spelling - OKC) killing me in the paint, yet David Lee and Al Harrington are missing layups. (getting the percentages right is BS) It might be me and that I only use the Knicks, but it is getting ridiculous right about now...Tags: None -

I'm 6-1 and only use the Knicks online, I either have yet to run into a cheeser or I can stop them.

Sounds like you were playing 2k...lol...Na but any complex game is going to have cheeser. No matter what Developers do. The more interacting part of a video you have. The more a human play... being rewarded will keep doing the same thing.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
Same as you; I was killing guys because everyone was playing sim. I do play like Mike D'Antoni's SSOL offense, but that is how they play with the pick and roll. To the poster above me, I just played a guy as Dever and shot 13-20 for three with Chancey.Comment

If its like then....wow...And someone in my league told there was no cheesing in Live 10....lol...
But like I said there is really no way around it.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
I played 4 ranked, online games yesterday. I lost them all, but I'm also (as are you) playing with the messed up pre season dna rosters. I clearly noticed that the fade away/step back 3 point shot had been toned down drastically, as it was humorous to watch my competition still try to do it time and time again and not get it to go. Although one opponent used the Nuggets and burned me with JR Smith for a ridiculous amount of corner 3's. As of now, I'm chalking up my online downfall to the fact my rosters are out of whack thanks to the dna update. When the next update comes out, I'll give it another try online and see if I'm back on track. I felt that the cheesing had definitely been reduced.Comment

Re: Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
IMO, online does feel different. For example: I've been using the Lakers lately (only to combat the cavs/magic fans). Prior to the update (not sure if dna or patch update) I was money with Fisher with an uncontested spot up 3. Since the DL of these updates, I'm not hitting many 3's. My shooting % has decreased into the mid to lower 20's where before it was low to mid 30s. I don't know if the dna update is responsible or the patch, but I'm assuming it was the dna update.
Additionally, the only other problem I'm finding online now (that I know is patch related) is the defense seems to be have been turned up to high for my liking. There are now blocks galore. Also, when using a size up move now, it's harder to get by your defender and when you do, a collision animation starts and I'm rarely getting the foul call and the shot isn't falling in either, whereas before, not only was it easier to get by the defender, but it almost felt like the size up move and drive was a higher percentage shot than a regular jumper, which I feel is justified as the real accurate size up moves were being completed by superstar caliber players.
Aside from that, online feels smoother and plays better. All in all, I'm looking forward to the next dna update and hopefully getting the game back on track.Comment

Re: Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
Since i fixed my ea servers connection, i don't think i've lost. I've played cheap *** teams too like the lakers, celtics, magic and cavs. I think the main reason is my defense, and how patient i am. During cold spells or when the other team goes on a run, i don't panic and start holding turbo. I slow everything down and weather the storm, something i'm yet to see anybody else do onlineComment

Re: Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
Admittedly I've only played 5 or 6 games online.. and none with the new patch (I'm on PS3).
Apart from the 3pt exploit that I've seen used once in a team game.. the other cheesers I've played have been utterly useless and I've annihilated them. To me it seems like you have to play realistically to stand a chance of winning.. I mean I had one guy just trying to strip Derrick Rose in the backcourt every possession by spamming the steal button.. I'd just dribble past and end up with like 5 on 2 every single possession cause he had all his players just trying to steal the ball as I brought it up the court.
The games I've lost were against people who just played solid basketball, got good shots and played intellegent D. If the 3pt exploit is gone after the patch I cant see there really being anything wrong with this game online in terms of sim Vs cheese gameplay. The new bugs that have come about since the patch need fixing fast though.Comment

See...you make the game sound even tougher online (which I would like). I don't know.....I just have to wait until later in the week to give the patch a run on the ps3.IMO, online does feel different. Re: Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
I'm the opposite.... I started out sucking but then I learned. I've never played a step back player in 1v1 (seen plenty in teamplay and in my short Live Run career), but I've seen Jameer getting mad wet. (46 points.)
I can't really even use the term cheese anymore as an excuse. There are exploits and then there are lame play styles. If people exploit and beat me, then that's great. They must be very proud. But I can usually defeat a lame play style because it's one dimensional. Last year, go to moves were super crazy. Step backs, to me, are not even close to the power of goto moves.
I'm pretty mad to hear about this patch, though, not even talking about all of the problems, but the fact that they made it so bigs don't lose the ball as much inside and that they made more foul calls. That is more REALISTIC, but I think it favors lame play styles.
They need to really differentiate between offline and online play. When I play offline, I want complete realism, but when I play online I want to know I have an adequate counter for someone who just tries to force the ball inside every time.

Re: Online, The Cheesing Is Getting Rediculous
the only exploit online I'm seeing is someone using the pick and roll and throwing the ball to the roll man who morphs through players with no regards to defenders and gets right next to the basket. You can stop it if you put another player in the lane, but it's really annoying.Comment
