Why the 3-4 doesnt work right in Madden
In the real world the 3-4 is designed to hide who the 4th rusher is going to be and confuse the O-line and get pressure on the QB. The reason this doesnt work well with Madden is Madden seems to be based more off of player vs player, head on head match-ups where the winner is determined largely off of attributes or player skill. With the exception of nano blitzing the O-line never seems to get confused who their man is and thus forces players into this game of one on one match-ups. The OLB in the 3-4,in being line up off the line of scrimmage, seems to be at a disadvantage in that it takes him that extra second to get to the O-lineman who is designated to block him on that particular play before he can attempt to beat his man and sack the QB.Tags: None -

Not to mention that when a blitzing linebacker is engaged by an offensive lineman, they are almost always dominated as the computer controlled defenders never seem to use any rips/swim moves in order to break the block - which wouldn't seem so bad, but then the computer also doesn't utilize the sprint option with defensive players / coupled with the suction blocking means the linebackers never shoot past the linemen, but rather run right into them only to be neutralized... which leads to the only players ever achieving sacks being your defensive linemen, unless the quarterback rolls out of the pocket.. then your linebackers can generally disengage from the blocks and get to him. -

I agree mostly with what is written, however most of my sacks come from P. Willis or Many Lawson when I do get sacks for obvious reasons. the problem is that when I get sacks it is after the computer has had all day to throw and couldn't find anyone. In the replay I will see Willis or Lawson break off of a block and charge the QB, but also a lot of the time they act like the RB does stuck behind a lineman running almost in place waiting to be set free.
