re-negotiating contracts mid-season in association

hey, just wondering if that problem from last year is still around where if you re-negotiate with a guy mid-season his contract in future years will be messed up. im at work now, so if i dont get an answer tonight i can test it out when i get home, but id rather not have it festering in my brain all night

I'm 99% certain there is no way. Unless its a case where the person signed an extension in real life you could just edit it by editing the player. For players that are in the last year of their rookie contract I always just let them go out to free agency and then match their offer sheet if they happen to sign one.

thanks for the reply, but im not sure you know what im asking. im not asking if something is possible to do, i know its possible to re-negotiate with a guy in the last year of his contract. what im wondering about is if the bug from last year is still in the game where if you do re-negotiate, the contract will be messed up in future years. know what i mean?

are you talking about when you right click and check their morale and it says something about "im willing to work out an extension immedately" or something like that?

Yes he is. Last year, if you worked out a deal during the season, the first year of his contract would be fine, but then after that, he would play for free for the rest of his contract. I did that once last year and ended up with half my team playing for $0 by accident. Really helped me with cap space though lol. But yeah, I'd like to know if this is still in the game too, although I feel like I asked it earlier and someone answered, but I don't remember.

just to follow up, i did go home and test it out.

i resigned big Z for 3 years and simmed through the season. the following season, everything looked good with contracts.

on a side note, players re-negotiation demads change now through the season based on thier morale. when i tested the thing out with Z, shaq started off wanting to renegotiate for about 2.5 million. by the end of the season, he was upset about minutes and he was then willing to re-negotiate for 3.5 million. this was something that didnt happen in last years game.

if your player has expressed interest in re-signing (you cant do it if he hasnt), go to the rosters screen and hit A, then all the way at the bottom should be the option "sign". hope that helps.

i don't know how it happened cuz i never renegotiated a contract mid season but lebron accepted a player option for 0 $ and i was able to get joe johnson in free agency

whoa thats messed up. you dont have to re-negotiate for a player to accept thier player option, they do that in the offseason. but the fact that it was for $0 dollars? anyone else have this happen?
