    Defense... YES!!!!!

Still trying to figure how to play solid D? Are you frustrated? why 2k Sports did not tell us this I have no idea but here is how you D up in 2k... First you want to change your right stick defense to absolute. You do this by going to my controller settings.

Right stick defense is the key to success in this game. While on defense you want to push and hold the right stick to the left. This will cause your player to plant his feet in a defensive stance which helps you stay in front of your man. Use the left stick to stay in front of your man and the left stick you can change your angles. You can force a player to his left or right. You will also notice that once you start doing this your team defense will step up big time.

You can go for steals by holding the right stick to the left and if timed correctly rotating the right stick up and your player will go for a smooth steal animation. Make sure to contest by pressing the block button when a player pulls up for a mid range jump shot. To contest in the paint hold the right stick to the left and push the left stick into the offensive player. You can attempt a block from this animation as well by quickly pressing block button.

The computer AI will start to probe and be forced to run the offense and not just take you off the dribble. Throw in the aggressive d modifier (left trigger or L2) and your a defensive guru.

Trust this is no gimmick try it and hit me on this thread...

Maybe it's just me, but the only things I found on the right stick that worked were the UP-Steal and DOWN-Hands Up. Never saw a difference with left/right.

I never had trouble with defense in this game. And all of that stuff is in the instruction manual anyway. Therefore it doesnt have to be stickied, since we all knew you can change settings to absolute for the past 2 or 3 years now.

Defensive assist is when the cpu automatically places you in the right defensive spot when guarding somebody.

Is the defensive stance from holding the right stick to the left different compared to holding the left trigger(xbox360) which i think is L2 for ps3?

The left trigger is used to crowd the player. The right stick puts you in a defensive stance while holding to the left and you can call for help if you push and hold to the right.

I never saw this in the manual. I have read the manual 30 times and nothing in regards to holding down the right stick.

hold the right stick to the left and move the left stick to stay in front of the other player. you can use turbo to keep if necessary and sometimes you will have to let it go to get in position. if you push the right stick to the right you can call for help defense.

Push the right stick to the right and that calls for help defense rotation.

This is a perfect example why 2ksports need to include tutorial videos with their games. Or at the very least indepth manuals.

I think I also stumbled onto this accidently today too in myplayer while trying to a figure out to stop the constant alley oops. I pressed down though and my player would actually stick to the opposition and try to deny a pass.
