NBA LIVE '10 - Havin' Fun!!!

My roommate recently signed up with 'Gamefly', so he got us NBA Live '10 and I am having SOOOOOOOOOO much fun with it right now.

I have been a LONG-TIME NBA 2K fan having purchased all the 2K basketball games since the Dreamcast started up...I was an NBA Live fan for sooo long on the SNES, but Live hasn't been fun for me since then - 2K took over i.m.o.

But, I gave Live a shot this year and I am absolutely having the time-of-my-life right now....lemme give you my opinions on what Live does sooo much better than the competition.

**The commentary is suberb (Marv & Steve are fun to listen to, because it doesn't get very stale)

**The ARENA sounds are sooo realistic! (I feel like the whole audio package in general is just super!)

**Just the camera angles / sound during time-out is awesome...it just "feels" real during a time-out...love it!

**NBA player specific sigs are SPOT-ON...I don't have to change ANYONE'S shot...I had to do a lot of editing in 2K

**I still don't like the way the ball goes through the net (if they TOTALLY re-did the entire net-animation engine this game would be top-notch)...it's silly, but it's something that small that bothers me.

Anyway, I know I really didn't need to make my own thread for this (it probably belonged somewhere else) ... but I am just having waaaay too much fun with this game (it's a GREAT change-of-pace) ... KUDOS EA!

Good post and glad you're enjoying it

Just on the commentary...it's basically the exact same lines as NBA Live 07, 08 and 09. You've not played those editions, so trust me when I say it's very stale at this point.

Really hoping for an entirely new commentary in 11

I'm still having fun wit it. I go from Live to 2k 2k to live etc etc. Right now i'm back on Live. Since learning how to do the layup while driving has made the game alot more enjoyable. One thing i hated was the contact shots while driving. But now its not a issue anymore. Took me 2 or 3 months to see the video about the layups and moves around the basket.

By the way anyone know how to do Floaters? I did a couple with Parker. I think i was pressing down on the right stick but when i try to do them i can't.

I am pretty sure only a few players can do it?

I know with the passing I have seen lots of new stuff controlling the Suns and Nash that I didn't see with other PGs.

Good Post. Im going to have fun til the next one comes out. Just picked up NCAA too. You can do a floater from about 16-5ft in. When driving, take ur hand of turbo and the L-Analog, then shoot.

One thing the game really shines in is the challenge of learning all the controls.

I've only just perfected a few things like bank shots and hitting cutters with bounce passes...very sweet once you get the hang of it

Ehh's post on lay ups was massive for me also...the whole "drive into the paint same animation over and over" thing was killing the game for me before i read his stuff

Totally agree. Learning all moves makes this game so much fun. I think I've fallen in love with Manu's Euro-Step.

I am going to have to read-up on those different moves, because I don't want the post-game (or any movement in the paint) to get stale.

***I just really want them to *overhaul* the ball/rim/net physics!!! I think it's one of those attributes that could swing this whole thing around...please EA!

Is there a way to do bounce passes? I like to know if there is any way to differentiate your pass chest to lob or bounce etc?

The better u get at this game the better the game gets. I dont even think u can appreciate the game until u can play it, if that makes sense. There are SO many more layups and finishes once u learn to use Layup Solutions, Step Backs, Off ball screens and Post Ups.

^ yep.. I think you have to either pull back or neutral the stick to throw it up... its one of the two but it works

To do the floaters you have to neutral the stick once you are coming close to the basket.
