        Well, check out the links! Head to the last link to chat with the current WAFL community. You can even get direct help from the Commisioner of the league if you need to. But, I'm happy to help

          OK, I'm going to advise against joining this league for what seems to be a simple but important reason. The logos for the league that he is promoting have been ripped off from another league. The World American Football League is a fantasy league on another site, and to my knowledge, "the Commish" has not received permission to use those logos.

          Having permission is fine, but passing off the work of hard working designers as your own is cowardly. Don't support him, period.

            Links or it never happened. Ok, so I talked with Commish and this is what he said:

            i found this WAFL set of logos a year and a half ago. under section 107 of the U.S. constitution, you do not need to recieve permission from the publisher of images on the internet if:
            1) the work is for fictional purposes, 2)if your usage in no way could harm the other party,or 3)it has a different use then the original usage.

            all three of those things do apply here, and for him to say that I am breaking the law, is shining a bad light on the good I am trying to do. And I do give full credit to them at the bottom of my site. i am a journalism major and study copywright law.

              Looks like a good idea to me. Wish I had a 360 to get in on this!

                Well, seeing as how you wouldn't be playing any of the games, its more along the lines of Head Coach, rather than Franchise type thing.

                So, you don't need a 360!

                  OK, I've spent some time looking over my version of the Constitution, and I'll be damned if I can't find "section 107." Even going by his logic, using this work to promote his league does damage the party that created it, seeings that the person who made it creates logos for a living. By saying that you can use any image off of the internet, you could theoretically rip off something like the NFL Shield and then use it to your advantage. Copyright law in the United States does not allow you to do this. There are no disclaimers on the bottom of his site, and there is absolutely no credit given to the designer of this work.

                  If he is a journalism major, he'd better rethink his career path, because doing something like this in the future would blackball him from getting a reporting job anywhere. He needs to go back, get permissions, and THEN post the work. Otherwise, he's just hurting people that make graphics for a living.

                    Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include —
                    (1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;
                    (2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
                    (3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
                    (4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
                    The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

                    Is this what being talked about?

                        So it was 106 intstead of 107. And first, how does it hurt the other guy if what he is doing is free?

                        And again, Commish never claimed he created the logos. So chill dude. And join the league

                          It hurts him because he is a designer. He designed that logo, and if it's put on another product that is not of its original intent, it could damage the authenticity of the designer. The person who made that logo makes his living off of making logos, and without his permissions it tears into his image.

                          If that is what US Code says (I don't have my copy lying around handily), then number four would say that he couldn't use that logo. By not putting a disclaimer alone saying that the logo isn't of his own work is enough to land him in legal trouble. In effect, he's not saying he did it, but he isn't really denying it either.

                          I'm not going to "chill." This isn't some gray area: this is a blatent rip- off of somebody's work, and it needs to stop. You can try to justify it all you would like, but the law and common sense morals are on the side of the designer. Until this "Commish" takes down the logos, I will continue to remind people that this work damages the authenticity of a hard working designer, and this league should be boycotted.

                            *All WAFL logos were achieved from Chris Creamers Sports Logos Community. Under Section 107 of U.S. copywright law, it is not illegal to use images online without consent from the creator. With that said, the league credits all logo designs to Chris Creamers creaters.

                            This is exactly what is said on my website. I appreciate your concern but it is not needed here. You are backing someone up with your words not his, and that's what t11 has been doing for me. But I am here now because I am not trying to damage anyone and you lash out at me like I have commited a harsh crime. Did you get permission from the Texas Rangers to use that logo? What about the name "pefect zero" because I'm sure there's a message board out there that has a person that goes by that name. When things are put on the internet, if they are not copywrited, they are of free use as long as no damage is being done, etc we all know what the exact quote says. it is a fine line, I admit but people are using the backbreaker logo on their fan sites and no one is complaining about that. do you think those people that made the backbreaker logo realize that their designs are going to be used for the purposes of backbreaer and that no one is trying to damage or harm their product in anyway? this has nothing to do with NFL fantasy football or fictional sports teams. this has to do with being owners in a football game that hasnt even been released yet. i understand you might have a connection with the owner of those logos but if you look at how other people have copywrited their logos and designs, there is a difference. please stop harassing my league. if you dont like it dont join. this project is to unite backbreaker fans just like any other online league would too.

                            if you have anything else you would like to say to me there is no need to do it publically for attention. feel free to email me at [email protected].
