    2010 Injuries

With the guys from community day confirming that you can now "injure" any player in the game, and also confirming that you need to be in franchise to do this (meaning we can't do it through a roster file), would it make sense to start compiling a universal list of all players, their teams, their injury and how long they will be out? This way there's an unofficial OS list out here that we could all reference when starting our Franchise or Season in 2010.

Not only that...if we could keep it current throughout the year...even better!

Tyler Yates, RP (Pittsburgh/minor league contract)

Yates, a 32-year-old right-hander, missed most of last season to Tommy John surgery on his right elbow after posting a 7.50 ERA in 15 appearances. On Jan. 4, the Pirates re-signed him to a minor league contract with a $975,000 salary if he makes the team.

Yates began a throwing program this afternoon in Bradenton, tossing from 45 feet, and pronounced his arm as "feeling good." He is not expected to pitch competitively until May or June.

I assume we'd want one to start of opening day with and we'll add updates (separately so that we maintain the original file for people who are just starting their franchise) throughout the year. I think we'll have to rely on user input as I can't find any database yet on injuries for the upcoming season.

Well...if you're willing to take the lead on this...may I make a suggestion.
Use the first post as the master list.
                OPENING DAY
                ....list the ones to start...
...date of injury.....name...which DL list...injury....presumed date of return

then just edit it by date....

                April 14th...
                ........Joe Blow.....15 day DL...strained quad...May 1st return

                    Re: 2010 Injuries

Im kind of at a stalemate between something. I dont know whether i should take the time to "injure" every player that gets hurt in the majors. Its hard cuz that takes a while but at the same time, im a person who has to have everything exact for me to have the best time playing it. Anyone else thinkin bout doin this?

                      Pirates:

Craig Hansen- Neck. Could be back by the start of the season (doubtful)

Jose Ascanio- Shoulder. Expected back May/June

Tyler Yates- Elbow. Expected back late July

Neal Cotts- Elbow. Expected back late July

Don't forget about Edinson Volquez from Cincinnati. Tommy John surgery on 8/3/09, so he'll certainly start the season (and spend most of it) on the 60-day DL...

I'm actually getting more excited about starting a franchise knowing I can do it with the major-injury guys "taken care of". That's always a dilemma for me when I know so & so won't be playing for the majority of a season. Kudos to SCEA for giving us the tools to do it!
