    RE: consistancy ratings

Im going to explain my consistency rating. This works as basically a players "Go off factor". Basically most players cant sustain a heat check long enough to go off for a 40-50 point game, even if they are a good shooter.

We know Kobe, LBJ, Wade, Or even a guy like JR Smith, Jamaal Crawford can become uncoincious and just kill you on a given random night. Some guys will get you 20ppg consistantly but wont really ever go off for an epic scoring night.

This is my scale based off true from the field scoring (no ref help, FT's dont count as being on fire).

    (FGMppgPer42)x3+25

The reason im using per42 is because nobody really actaully plays more than that (very rare)

Kobe gets 24.4ppg per42 off ONLY made FG's.

    24.4ppg multiplied by 3 (3 quarters) = 73.2
    Add in the base 25 = 98.2

    Kobe's consistency rating is 98
    24.4ppg x 3 = 73.2
    Add base 25 = 98.2

    DWade consistency rating is 97
    24.0ppg x 3 = 72.0
    Add base 25 = 97.0

    LeBron consistency rating is 94.
    23.0ppg x 3 = 69.0
    Add base 25 = 94.0

    Danny Granger rating is 92
    22.3ppg x 3 = 66.9
    Add base 25 = 91.9

Melo consistency rating is = 91
    22.0ppg x 3 = 66.0
    Add base 25 = 91.0

    Dirk consistency is 90
    21.3ppg x 3 = 63.9
    Add Base 25= 88.9

Durant consistency rating is = 88
    21.1ppg x = 63.3
    Add base 25 = 88.3

Al Jefferson consistency rating is = 87
    20.6ppg x 3 = 61.8
    Add base 25 = 68.8

Tony Parker consistency rating is 86
    20.4ppg x 3 = 61.2
    Add base 25 = 86.2

Charlie V consistency rating is 86
    20.3ppg x 3 = 60.9
    Add base 25 = 85.9

Al Harrington consistency rating is 85
    20.1ppg x 3 = 60.3
    Add base 25 = 85.3

Leandro Barbosa consistency rating is 85
    19.9ppg x 3 = 59.7
    Add base 25 = 84.7

Joe Johnson consistency rating is 84
    19.7ppg x 3 = 59.1
    Add base 25 = 84.1

Nate Robinson consistency rating is 84
    19.7ppg x 3 = 59.1
    Add base 25 = 84.1

Zach Randolph consistency rating is 84
    19.7ppg x 3 = 59.1
    Add base 25 = 84.1

There is a bunch of guys at the 82-83 rating...Most of the usual suspects, J.R. Smith,B.Roy,BG, TMac,Monta, Agent ZER0, Ducan, Bosh, Terry...

Additionally, higher consistency means tougher to go into cold streaks.

Al Harrington simply does not apply.

You're basically doing Shot Tendency = Consistency

Sounds great in theory, but makes for inflated stats and inaccurate field goal percentages for many players. If your going to do that for consistency, youd have to edit alot of other ratings as well to go with it

No, what im doing is LOWERING the consistancy rating for most players. If you look, you will see 99's for loads of players, and 60's for every starter.

What i listed is the top 15 highest ratings. On this scale there is only 6 players with 90+, You can find teams with 3 or more 99's one one squad.

the thing is, i dont think this rating makes a substantial difference. Especially when were talkin differences in 98 kobe, 97 wade, or even 85 harrington.

                i agree with rashidi.
the formula doesnt suit the meaning of the attribute which is simply what it says.

how do you have charlie v, harrington and nate so high.

these guys are prone to hot and cold streaks.

i would hardly call them consistent.

you would have to add a players effective fg% to the formula as well, but even then, i dont see how you can equate a mathematical formula to accurately present an attribute like this.

Obviously you're lowering them if you don't have anyone rated 99.

The point is there are plenty of inconsistent scorers that score lots of points.

Al Harrington is just as likely to score 4 points as he is to score 40. You've got him more consistent than Tim Duncan and Chris Bosh?

yeah kinda weird. Plus Charlie V so high. heh, you haven't seen many Pistons games this year. he's sooo up and down.

i like the effort though. hard to figure a good scale for this. and who is where.

Yeah, and my response was dropping players like Harrington and Nate a wee bit more than 15 points.

It's funny that I frequently get accused of not watching games, because I'm nowhere near as into formulas as people on this board.
