Major League Baseball 2K10: A Live Journal (Gameinformer)

Gameinformer has posted a very detailed live journal on Major League Baseball 2K10.

"In the skill point menu, new sections have been added for my pitch types. For instance, I can now spend points on my curveball's speed, control, and movement. One nice really touch is having individual skill points rewarded for pitching, fielding, baserunning, and batting. Unlike MLB: The Show, you won't have to needlessly spend pitching points on drag bunting. It looks like I'll earn bunting points for laying down bunts, and fielding points for actually playing my position. Nice."

I noticed that he said he is working with the final build: "With final code of Major League Baseball 2K10 arriving on my desk today..."

          Very interesting.

I'm glad to see the pitching cursor is smaller this year.

I always take these blogs with a grain of salt. Jon Robinson (ESPN.com) did something similar with MLB 2k9 last year and his article made 2k9 sound like the game of the year. That's not a knock on Jon, but a compliment on his writing since he took a turd of a game and made it sound enjoyable.

Those pitch counts weren't very encouraging (92 & 82 in two complete games, 72 in 8 INN). Then again, he was playing on Pro. When he increased the difficulty to All-Pro he struggled (62 PC in 2.2 INN).

Still, this gets me excited for this game (yet again) .

yes - so we can change difficulty and sliders in My Player mode!! I hope this guy is telling the truth, man if NBA2k10 had this, I would still be playing the isht out of that My Player mode..

instead I am going to play a ton of this mode in MLB2k10, looks like this is gonna be fun...I hope the custom music is used in My PLayer once you get to the bigs, like how NBA2k did it. really adds to the atmosphere..

Loved that pic as well. Pretty much every single thing on that screen looks a lot better than 2k9 did.

Great looking pitcher camera angle. Player models whale all over any other baseball game on the US market at this point.

I'm glad VC is picking up the pieces Brinkman left on the ground after breaking this franchise in 2K8.

In my opinion, those pitch counts aren't realistic. 10 balls in 9 innings, no walks ? My intention isn't to bash, so don't go there.

I doubt he was trying to play realistic baseball. Pretty obvious that he was throwing mainly strikes so batters were making contact early in the count, therefor the low pitch count.

Nothing to be concerned about in my opinion.

When asked about the framerate in the commments, the author said: "it's MUCH smoother than last year. Feels like an entirely new game."

                              Very encouraging
