Re: is the alley off the backboard possible???
I've seen a clip or two of it working out. I have to be honest, I know it's hard to strike a balance between allowing something to happen too frequently and too infrequently, but this is not exactly what I envisioned when I first heard there'd be the ability to throw alley-oops off the board. I expected them to happen sometimes. As it stands, they appear to be freak occurances.
I'm not complaining, I was just picturing something different. -

I like it just the way it is. Just like these 360 alley oop, 360 between the legs. 360....etc. etc.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: is the alley off the backboard possible???
I'd still like to add just a touch more frequency to the off-the-backboard alley-oops (which do happen every now and again in an NBA game). If I break out with an '02 New Jersey squad with Jason Kidd leading the break all alone and Kenyon Martin trailing, I'd like to be able to know that I could throw it off the backboard to him if that was my choosing. In 2K10, even if the situation appears to present itself on a platter, the chances of successfully throwing a lob off the board seem to be somewhere between 2.3 and 5.9%.
Sometimes the problem is not getting Kidd to attempt the throw, rather his pass bounces off the rim or something of that nature. If I had to guess, I'd suppose those were situations where 2K meant to have an off-the-backboard dunk completed but something did not work out in the coding process. I'd like to think that through all the hours of playing with every given squad against variably different difficulties (and particularly against some horrid human opponents) I'd be able to squeeze one out somewhere, but still no luck. Lots of regular alley-oops, no backboards.
I'll largely agree with you on the other two though. I can count real life NBA 360 alley-oops dunks/layups on one hand that I can think of (Kobe Bryant is the only one that comes to mind off the top of my head) and I can count the number NBA between-the-legs 360's on zero hands, so I've got no problem with those two not occurring in 2K.Comment

Re: is the alley off the backboard possible???
Exactly.....I think they should be both on the same scale. backboard alley just sightly more. Even though I haven't even done it myself.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: is the alley off the backboard possible???
It happened once for me, not even sure how I did it. I threw a regular alley oop like usual, and instead the pass went off the backboard.
It was in a realistic situation where the guy who dunked it was trailing on the play.Comment

There was another one that had gifs but i can't find it.
About the one that THAT guy posted;
its more of a botched normal alleyoop rather than the game intentionally going for it IMO, especially compared to the legit one above
and about the half court one, its a failed half court shot and a putback, theres a few of those uploaded on the 2k siteLast edited by jaosming; 02-12-2010, 08:05 PM.NBA 2K11 Community Site Mix
