At the end of Pre-Season I will cut the team down to a 51 Man Roster and release the Depth Chart for the team.

After losing their first 2 Pre-Season games, one to the Atlanta Falcons 23-13 and the other to the Cleveland Browns 27-19, the Lions bounced back with a surprising victory over the Indianapolis Colts 17-10, that went on to be the Colts only loss during the Pre-Season. In the Lions final Pre-Season game they lost a hard fought match with the Bills losing 18-17.

Now that the Pre-Season ended the Lions released their Depth Chart, here it is:

The Detroit Lions head to the Super Dome to play the explosive offense of Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. The Detroit Lions are coming off a season in which they finished at 0-16 the first team in a 16 game schedule to do that. They look to end their losing streak today, and hopefully they can!

In other news -
Detroit Lions sign Wide Reciever Ryne Robinson as a return man. Robinson was drafted in the 4th round of the 2007 Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He played in all 16 games in 2007 starting none, but he returned 26 kickoffs and 30 punts. In 2008 Ryne Robinson did not play in any games because of a season-ending MCL injury, which made the Panthers release him.

Kurt Warner retired a couple of weeks ago, it just hasn't updated yet. Give it time.

Stafford, Lions blown out.

Rookie QB Matthew Staffords debut is a 52 - 21 blow out loss. Saints took the lead to start the game and never looked back. Saints racked up big play after big play finishing with over 400 Offensive yards. Although Stafford did not bring in a win, he played a good game throwing for just under 200 yards going 16/32 50% passing for 3 TD's but 2 picks. On the other side Drew Brees was very succesful and he had a game he won't soon forget. Going 16/19 84% throwing 3 TD's and only 1 INT. On the ground the Lions were non-existent, but the Saints were far from non-existent. Pierre Thomas, leading the Saint's rushing performance, racked up 189 yards on 24 attempts with a staggeringly high 7.8 Average Yards per carry. Thomas also had 4 TD's on the ground. After the game this is what Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz had to say:

"Its just disappointing, I felt we had a much better team then last year and then we get beat like this, we couldn't stop them on Defense and by the time we found our selves Offensively it was to late. Changes need to be made here"

And this is what Wide Receiver Calvin Johnson JR. Had to say:

"I had a pretty good game today, but when you lose it stings and being in Detroit for my 3rd year now I'm getting used to losing a little too quickly."

The Lions look to end their losing streak at home when they face the 0-1 Minnesota Vikings led by future hall of famer Brett Favre.

It will be a battle of NFC North Rivals, with both teams looking to prove something. Minnesota are looking to prove that getting Favre this off-season was a good idea and to show that he still has it. The Lions look to prove that their QB, Rookie Matthew Stafford can lead them to victory, something they have not felt in such a long time. Last time these 2 played the Vikings edged out a win 20-16 on 12/7/08.

45 - 21

Lions proved once again why they lost all 16 Regular Season games last season in another blowout loss, this time the score was 45 - 21.
The Lions defense gave up big play after big play, many of them to Adrian Peterson which finished with 142 yards on 23 attempt (6.1 avg) and 2 TD's on the ground. Brett Favre had a great game as well
having a perfect QB rating on going 9/11 (81% Comp.) throwing for 227 yards and 2 TD's. Rookie Matthew Stafford had a horrid game, going 22/42 (52% Comp.), 269 yards passing and throwing 1 TD and 3 INT's. Calvin Johnson Jr. had a great game despite the loss, catching 6 balls for 142 yards and 1 TD.

This is what Lions Rookie QB Matthew Stafford had to say after the game -
"I had a terrible game, and I don't think anyone can win when they turn the ball over like we did, our defense couldn't stop them and we couldn't do anything offensively"
