MLB 10 THE SHOW FRANCHISE PROGRESS THREAD

For people that don't want to keep a franchise thread over in Dynasty HQ, lets get this thread started for here.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
I started my Dodgers franchise today and the season started in Pittsburgh.

Game 1, I got to Zach Duke early with a Manny homerun in the 1st inning. I managed to get some more runs across to make it 5-0. The Bucs tried to make a rally but I managed to shut the door.

Game 2, I could not figure out Paul Maholm. He went 8 2/3 scoreless innings before being pulled for Octavio Dotel. Hiroki Kuroda did well, but gave up a homerun to Garrett Jones which was the difference in a 1-0 game.

Game 3, Kershaw had trouble early on but managed to get out of a stressful 1st inning by getting Andy LaRoche to pop out with the bases loaded. The game was scoreless until the 5th when Andre Ethier hit a rbi single right back up the middle. I added another run in the 7th from an error by their reliever Lopez. Then another RBI single by Ethier.

Sherrill was brought in to the game in the 8th but struggled, so I had to have a 4 out save with Broxton. Manny homered in the 9th to give some more cushion.

So, right now I am 2-1, with a trip to Florida coming up.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
Let us know how your franchise is going.

      I'm 0-2 with Atlanta.

Lost my first game 4-3 against the Cubs.

      Dropped the 2nd game 2-1.

About to drop half my non-hitting, non-fielding team.

Yunel Escobar has no idea how to catch and Chipper Jones CANNOT backhand ANY groundball to save his life on this game.

Really frustrated with the fielding for the second consecutive year. Specifically the auto select of the player on quick line drives through the infield. If it's on the SS side of 2B why are you giving me the 2B???

I'm currently just getting used to the game again right now, but I will probably start one up again in a month or two, once I get the perfect sliders and settings that set me up to win, lose, lose a close one, win a close one, blow the other team out, or get blown out on any given day.

I began my RTTS this morning. Tonight I look to begin my Season mode once my daughter goes to bed, and I can get online.

I am probably going to be the Giants because their stadium is SWEET!!!! I plan to do a 29-game season, because 162 games isn't feasible and I'd like to play multiple seasons.

The Giants are lacking in power, but Lincecum should be fun. Their top 4 players; Lincecum, Cain, Sandoval and their closer are all under 30 which is cool, but they also all have expiring contracts.

              14-1 with Milwaukee.

I'd turn up the difficulty if 5 of those weren't in extras and 4 others weren't decided by 1 or 2 runs.

              Team leaders:
              AVG: Braun (.465)
RBI: Dye (15) (On DL for 2-3 months)
              HR: Fielder/Braun (4)
              W: Wolf (3)
              ERA: Bush (0.00)
              S: Hoffman (9)

Yes but there are workarounds to make it work better.

lets please not do this here. There are multiple threads where one can discuss the "problems" within franchise mode, no reason to bring it in here.

Well I had a tense first game. I got out to a 2-0 lead on the Orioles with the Giants by the 2nd inning, and a 3-run bomb by Aubrey Huff put me up 5-2 eventually. Playing with fire the entire game Lincecum ended up allowing I believe 3 runs in around 7 IP and striking out 8 and walking none. My set up guy (I believe Medders) got 2 outs in the 8th, then walked 2 in a row for Nick Markakis who had already gone deep on me. I brought in Brian Wilson and he induced a ground out to get out of a major jam.

In the bottom of the 9th I believe Wilson set down the side 1-2-3 and my Giants beat the Orioles 5-3. Lincecum wasn't super sharp, but God his stuff is filthy.

I know alot of people are having troubles drawing walks, and I only walked once, but with a little better location recognition I would have drawn more.

I am playing on Veteran for both hitting and pitching, but had it not been for some poor baserunning I would have won more easily. Hopefully I can be up to All-Star by the time I'm through the rotation for the first time.

The stadiums look so much better when there are no shadows.

Re: MLB 10 THE SHOW FRANCHISE PROGRESS THREAD

I started my SF Franchise last night. Game one was at Houston with Tim Lincecum pitching against Roy Oswalt.

SF jumped out to a quick 1-0 start in the top of the 1st with a double my Freddie Sanchez who was later driven home by Bengie Molina's single.

Sanchez next at bat he drove the ball into right field and was able to leg out a triple and score on a wild pitch. Later that inning Aaron Rowand hitting in the 7 hole drove home Mark Derosa with a stand up double. SF was able to knock Oswalt out of the game in the 6th and had a comfortable 3-0 lead heading into the 7th.

Everything was looking good especially since Timmy was pitching a gem on the mound. However, in the 7th Pedro Felix nailed a two strike, two out fastball for a solo HR. Going into the bottom of the 8th Tim was starting to show signs of fatigue and was pulled with no one on base, after 7.2 strong inning. Sergio Romo came in and allowed a walk but, was able to get the next batter to ground out and get out of the inning unscaved.

Going into the bottom of the ninth SF had a 3-1 lead with Brian Wilson coming to close the game out. Wilson was set to face the 4,5 and 6 hitters (Lee, Pence and Felix). After 9 pitches Lee got the best of Wilson and spanked a double down the left field line. Pence struck out. The next batter Felix remained cool as the other side of the pillow and drove the first pitch over the left field wall to tie the game up. The next batter, Keppinger drew a walk and that brought up catcher Humberto Quintero. Wilson was hoping for a double play ball and quickly got ahead with a 0-2 count. With the 9 hole up next, Wilson, decided to go for the punch out and attempted a hard, fastball away but, unfortunately he hung the pitch and Quintero hammered the pitch over the left-field wall for the walk-off HR.

Houston came back for a 3-1 deficit in the 9th for a great first win. Matt Lindstrom was the winning pitcher with Pedro Felix earning player of the game honors. Felix went 2-4 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI's.

The Giants drop to 0-1 on the season despite a great pitching performance from Lincecum (7.2 innings, 8 hits, 10 k's, 1 ER). Other bright spots were Freddie Sanchez (2-4, dbl, trl, 2 runs) and Pablo Sandoval (3-4 with 3 singles).

SF looks to get their first W of the season later tonight by sending Matt Cain to the mound to face Wandy Rodriguez.

Very rough start for offense, hopefully Tulo can get on track, hit HR last game late so it's a start. Pitching is ok, got rocked 6-2 last game against Mets though.
