Ball handling controls are terrible!

My bad if this has already been discussed but I just started playing 2k10 this month and I must say the ball handling controls are terrible. They're are no controls to break down a defender. . .Or am I just missing something?

There are a lot of things I like about this game that are better than Live, but why can't they incorperate Live's joystick ball handling? that would make this game so sick!

Oh man....not again....

The controls are fine. How long did you play? Because if you picked it up and played once and came back with that review. Then....the Time you spent is the experience you get. Because I had trouble with Live controls at first. But I gave them a chance and now I'm as skilled on 2k with Live dribble scheme.

But again nothing wrong with the dribbling the movement is whats missed up.

The Isomotion controls are really hard to get used to, especially if you come from playing Live 10 where the controls are silky smooth.

The player movement (or lack thereof) in 2K also hurts the game. I'm not saying 2K is bad or anything, it's just not as user-friendly as Live, imo.

Okay, so what am I doing wrong?. . .I've played a lot more than just one game and I still can't figure out anything. is there a tutorial for this somewhere? practice mode didn't help either.

No No No they are not terrible they are just not smooth.

There are about 4 different dribbles in the game that are so unrealistic.

There are a few dribbles we don't have control over. 2K decides which dribble we use when the cpu is making a run or when you beat your man that will slow you down.

If your man is beat the game will do an unnecessary dribble sometimes to help the defense.

the game has too much animation, especially on dribbles, and that ruins the gameplay. it's kinda annoying to beat your defense then get slowed just by him running up near you. that's fine if the same happens when i'm the one playing the defense, and i can slow him down the way he slows me down. but that has yet to happen.

Not really thats the CPU reaching for the ball meaning it miss timed the steal button. Which brings out the failed steal animations.

I think you just made my point! The animation and the lack of controls really take away from an overall good game.

I have to agree. I really want to like this game but the lack of control is a real sticking point for me.

I'll come right out and say that I like the quick strike dribbling system better.

The thing with isomotion, is that I find I have to always get used to allowing the animation to play out.

There are times when I cut out of something right when it is about to happen, because it takes a little longer to register then I expect.

This is the reason or thing I don't like people expect. In real life do you dribble cancel your dribble moves...mid move...No you don't...You have to finish a move. then start another one.

Exactly! Isomotion isn't perfect, but understanding the basics of it (letting moves finish) most of the complaints would go away.

I think the isomotion is fine. And no matter what anyone says, after playing only 2K basketball games for years I now find EA's basketball titles near unplayable.
