classic hitting backwards?? Is it true?

    For Righties ( e.g.David Wright)

To pull a ball you have to press (or hold) the left stick in the right direction..not the left direction

To slap a ball you have to press (or hold) the left stick in the left direction..not the right direction

    And vice versa for lefties.

    Is this true?

If it is, it explains why I've been hitting grounders the opposite field every time I'm trying to pull a ball

I've tried to avoid touching the left stick as of late, but I noticed this the very first night when playing Home Run Derby. I hope this isn't the case in all honesty.

yeah forget the left stick. I think the way they did classic batting this year is near perfection. The balls gets hit in the direction it should based on where the pitch is. No more pulling a low and outside pitch for a homerun. I hadnt touched the left stick since the day the game came out.

Yeah I am anti L-stick as well. Man, last night I pulled the nastiest homerun with Prince fielder on a breaking ball that floated on the inside edge of the plate. Line drive bullet tailing away from the foul pole, just fair and clearing the wall by maybe a foot. After working the count to 3-1, it was the best homer I've hit in a video game.

Yes it seems to be the case for me as well.

Why not use the Left stick?, i wanna drive a ball away to bring a runner home etc. Im certainly not pulling low and away balls for HR's this year.

I've been using the L-stick since I started, but every now and then I will resort to not using it. The one thing I have noticed with the L-stick is that when you gesture up, you tend to hit not just fly balls, but REALLY high fly balls that have no chance of falling in for hits.

Now I have been playing MVP 2005 for the last 4 years, so in that game I ALWAYS used the L-stick to influence, but I would usually go where the pitch was, ie if the pitch was high and away, I would push high and away. That seemed to get me great hit variety and success and I haven't been able to break myself of the habit enough for 2K10.

I will note though that when I didn't use the L-stick the other night, I smoked a liner to the gap that I had never seen before using the swing influence previously.

I'd say it's "hit" and miss.

On a side note, if you hold the L stick pre pitch its the opposite of what you expect, ie. hold to left for a hit to right etc.

However if you "flick" the left stick when you swing the ball goes in the same direction as the gesture.

              Hope that helps anyone.

Ugh I realized last night this is an issue. I had a feeling it was from the demo, but couldn't really test it fully. Last night I went into the contact + power drill and sure enough pull/push are backwards.

It doesn't completely ruin the game for me but it is very disappointing that this was overlooked. If nothing else it makes hitting more challenging in a bad way.
