Pro Yakyu Spirits 2010 Impressions, Translations, and Discussion Thread

Pro Yakyu Spirits 2010 is unleashed...

Use this thread to post impressions, get (or help with) translations, or just generally discuss this year's version.

Here are some nice long videos of the game in action:

Re: Pro Yakyu Spirits 2010 Impressions, Translations, and Discussion Thread

    The videos look nice...

The black loading screen seems less prevalent than I remember from PYS5, and it's unknown whether or not this person has used the install to HDD option. In truth it's a small issue, as I think I stopped noticing it pretty quickly in PYS5.

The biggest improvement I see over PYS5 (didn't play PYS6) is with CPU pitches outside the zone, as there seemed to be more pitches further away from the strike zone (as opposed to every pitch outside the zone being borderline). It could be a difficulty level thing, and maybe the game was on an easy level, I don't know... But it was encouraging.

One bad thing that stood out to me was the throw back to the infield after a hit... You see the ball on it's way to the cutoff man, then the camera changes scene while the ball is still in the air... Kind of sloppy looking, though it keeps things moving I suppose.

Re: Pro Yakyu Spirits 2010 Impressions, Translations, and Discussion Thread

Having played the last two versions, these videos don't show a lot that is new. The pitcher motions look a little more realistic, there is a streak behind the ball, and it looks like pitcher is not tipping his hat after every strike out (which really bugged me). There are a few new batting stances as well but I'd say 80-90% of the gameplay animations are the same. All the overlays are the same though they did add some commentary each time a player comes to the plate for the first time.

It's still a buy for me since I want the new rosters with the guys coming back from the MLB (Johjima, Kobayashi, Taguchi, etc) as well as the new rookies like Chono with the Kyojin.

But if you're a newbie, I'd get 6 since it has WBC and will save you a few buck with a used copy on e-bay.

First time playing this one, I ordered mine from play-asia with shipping (almost $100 total) so I can get it by Monday. I'm pumped to try it out, even though I'm apt to stumble through the menus just to get to an exhibition game.

I checked today and no, but they have the download version for the PSP up for sale. Not that that's really relevant here. But for people wondering about importing the PSP disc version, here's a long video of it in action:

Impressive to say the least. I forgot what a little powerhouse that system is.

Welcome aboard the "PYS" Juggernaut; best baseball series ever! PYS first caught my attention when it launched with the japanese Xbox 360 in 2005. Needless to say I was dissapointed to learn that the 360 was region coded . In 2006 Konami transfered the "next gen" version of PYS to the PS3; and the PS3 is region code free so I immediately made the "jump" to PYS because I was upset with poor MLB game for 360 and no MLB game for PS3 that launch year.

PYS4 blew me away and became an instant favorite . Shortly after buying PYS4 I bought a japanese 360 with the 2 games I always wanted (PYS3 and wrestle kingdom). I have been a PYS fan ever since then and have bought (and still own) a copy of every PYS game (even PYS5 Kanzenban) since 2005 . I have never done this with any other sports series....EVER! This is as good as it gets right now for baseball games....and I love it!

Many players hesitate to get this game because of the language barrier....it's really not that difficult to navigate the menu and with the help of other gamers (Testa989, BigManZan, tuffyrhoades and MukaMuka among others) it is even easier to get into the game.

I'm really hoping that the 2K exclusive agreement with MLB doesn't get extended as I would love to see Konami use the PYS engine for an MLB game although I would continue to buy PYS games because they are great and I follow the NPB as much I do MLB

I am now proceeding to do the Install feature to lower some of the loading times and whatnot... *** **** can Konami make a baseball game... I'm one of those fans of the hated Giants so maybe a game with both these teams would be good. I'd like to see the changes as well. Already saw they finally gave Matsumoto the Youkilis type batting stance he uses...would love to see what other updates they have. I'd also like to see how they rated Chono, the rookie who did really well in the pre-season.

I agree about the blank black screen. however it should not be there at all.

This games good but it's past it's innovation on PS3. It seems to me like it's a winning eleven type of deal i feel.

It looked absolutely stunning in 2007, looked even more amszing in 2008. 2009 felt the same as 2008 and now 2010 feels like 2007 when you have games like MLb 2k10 and Mlb the show finally hitting their strides in devlopment.

Wish the game took the more polish approach. instead it just plays it too safe

Hey guys! Been following the pys threads here for the pass year or so and finally decided to sign up for an account.

Bought my first PYS last year (PYS6) and really really loved it. Took some time to get used to batting as I was coming from The Show, but after a while it kicked in and I just love the game now. It's pretty much a real life pawapuro game which is awesome because I played those games like crazy when I was a kid.

I'm even more excited for 2010 this year because I'm not entirely happy with this years The Show. Maybe I just haven't played it enough but something just seems off about it.

Anyway, looking forward to discussing this year's PYS with you all!

So besides roster updates, what is different about this game that warrants a purchase?

Also, is watch mode still an option on the ps3 and psp versions???
