i would like your opinion on a play

60-58 for me

2 seconds remaining in the game

my opponent inbounds the ball after a time out, i have a foul to give, i foul as soon as he catches the ball (before he can shoot obv), foul is called late, 0.4 second left on the clock, he inbounds the ball but doesn't have time to shoot.

he's pissed and call me a cheeser (and report me) i think it's good coaching and pure NBA late game strategy.

what do u think?

It's a bit cheap, but alot of NBA teams are using this strategy nowadays.

The warriors used it against the Raptors just the other day. Raptors down by three with 9 seconds left on the clock. They inbound the ball at halfcourt and the Warriors immediately foul them sending them to the line to shoot two.

So it's a real NBA strategy, one that is a part of the game and just good strategy.

I guess, it would've been more reasonable if he had been down by 3 and you have no more fouls to give and send him to the line, then get possession of the ball. He was probably upset that you took time off from the clock for him without really doing anything.

Don't listen to him (that reported you) that is 100% NBA strategy, if you have a foul to give, give it! No use in leaving the door open. If he can't get over the fact that he was Butler for a day, than he shouldn't even be playing this game. Not even LeBron James wins every game, no one wins every game. Great strategy there, that's being resourceful.

i also think it's good strategy and i personaly would never be mad at someone winning this way against me ... even if it could be frustrating not to have time to take the shot lol

btw the guy tried to inbound and shot with .4 sec to play

if i was him i would have tried a inbound alley hoop every day here

It is possible to catch the inbound pass and shoot in .4, and in fact even in .3 sec in this game. My friend hit one against me with .3 left in the clock for a quarter ending buzzer beater.

And nice strategy btw. Those online fools have probably never played the game of basketball irl.

to shoot with less than 1 second is extremly difficult imo in that game, i thought less than .5 was just impossible (even with a quick release like mo williams' or harden's)

Yeah, I don't think it's possible with a normal jumpshot. My boy got it with that quick launch long heave from about halfcourt. In your case the kid should've definitely tried the alley-oop.

The problem for me is that its a gimmick strategy. The major reason I don't like it. Is because in 2k10 you can't press intentional foul. And the offensive player can't get a shot off. Its pretty much a canned animation. Where in real life....You would be really prepared in that situation for the foul to come.

I mean.....thats like off-ball fouling Shaq all game to send him to the free throw line. Boring....

I'd say it's a bit cheap because sometimes the animation for a quick shot (ie. less than .4) doesn't work and you'll end up shooting a jumper. So in that respect I can understand his frustration, but I don't know why he reported you. That's the way the game is, he should have realized you had a foul to give and ran a play where he could get an open shot.

so u say that in my situation u let the guy shoot the ball and possibly tie or win the game when u still have a foul to give?

i think it's a mistake but it's good to hear other opinions, thats why i created that thread : )

Yeah same here, I would never be mad at a person who did that to me, hey sometimes your good, sometimes your lucky, if you get luck, congrats.

actually at 58-58 20 seconds left i had the ball at the 3 point line with granger and asked for isolation, then i waited like the last 4 seconds to make the play, crossed him over and score the open midrange jumper.

but my opponent had also a foul to give !!


so i was REALLY surprised not to get fouled b4 the shot but hey.. i'm well educated so i accept presents ..

at the end, the guy told me stuff like "such a shytty cheap foul etc.. why u fouled me? i didnt foul on granger when i could etc..."

so i answered exactly what i sincerely think of the situation "bad coaching imo"

if i was him with a foul to give i would have foul at the 4 or 3 sec mark everyday cause that's what sim is all about imo

please keep telling me what u would have done in both situation (his and mine) Thx for the answers

I don't think it's cheap. That's your reward for not fouling the whole game.
